Knoll & Rendell: Disgraceful remarks

Tuesday, July 26, 2005

Sometimes politicians need to stop while they're behind.

Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll did a little politicking and offered some political commentary Tuesday last, uninvited, at the Carnegie funeral of Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich. The Marine, 32, of Westwood, was killed in a mortar attack in Iraq on July 10.

Mrs. Baker Knoll began talking to Sgt. Goodrich's aunt during the Communion service. She handed the aunt a business card; Knoll called the funeral a "function." Then Knoll told the aunt that the state government was "against the war."

Outrageous.

Visiting Pittsburgh on Sunday, Gov. Ed Rendell tried to make amends. Knoll merely was trying to be supportive, he said.

But even though Mr. Rendell said "our state supports the men and women who are fighting this war," he echoed Knoll's ghastly war remark: "It's not the business of state government to support the war."

Which would be news to those federal agencies, D.C. politicos and nongovernmental organizations to which the state has been whining about potential military base closings...SNIP

Apologies were the order of the day Monday. But the damage was done....SNIP

The best public service Knoll could perform would be to not seek re-election. As for Rendell, he could use a class in thinking before speaking.

Knoll and Rendell are beneath contempt.

There is something to be said for the time when you could tar and feather traitors, crooks, and scoundrels and run them out of town on a rail.

"It's not the business of state government to support the war."

Making that remark during the Civil War would have had Lincoln ordering his arrest. During World War 2, he'd have been forced to hide from angry public mobs. The fact that these two haven't ended their political careers with these statements is everlasting shame. Knoll and Rendell = Quisling.

"It's not the business of state government to support the war."

Besides that being untrue, the ms lt. gov. said they were AGAINST the war. Inother words, opponents. Opponents wish you to lose, and those who wish you to lose, are the enemy. We do need to leave our military in penn. - as an occuping force!

democrats become so confused when they try an "apology," it becomes sadly hillarious. It's sad because so many people vote for these turds.

I think that Tony Snow is going to have the Marine's sister-in-law on his radio show today (9:00 AM EST) to relay exactly what Knoll told her.

"But even though Mr. Rendell said "our state supports the men and women who are fighting this war,""

He says this...and yet last year, until he was shamed into it by Hannity, he was NOT going to extend the deadline for soldiers overseas to return their votes. And this was even AFTER, the state mailed them to the soldiers LATE because the Dems sued to get Nader off the PA ballots.

The worst part of all is that Rendell was out personally visiting prisons to make sure that all prisoners whose trials were still in progress and would not yet be convicted by Nov 2nd would be given an opportunity to pull the Dem lever.
