Politically, W's biggest problem is keeping his base walking precincts in 2006. The Club of 200 encomiums are as directed at these folks as at the rats. And Bush has won that battle for the time being. Folks still trust Bush enough to give him the benefit of the doubt. And, it's unlikely Roberts can reveal himself as yet another R judicial disaster before 2006. If he does, the R's lose the Senate in 2006--moderates don't walk precincts.
I just have no idea whether this is a great nomination or a disaster . . . it's probably something in-between.
I think Ann made some great logical points, too. The spinelessness of the Republicans scares me to death, not Ann's excellent analysis. It seems that people who have strong, INTELLIGENT arguments, and who put their ideas out in a hostile leftist environment always get slammed (most people don't have the guts to state the truth). That she gets vilified here, too, is a shame.
We need people like Ann and Michael Savage, who tell the truth and refuse to use the PC language. PC is going to be the death of this great country! If she is wrong, she would be the first to admit it, but then I noticed, she is hardly ever wrong, as is Savage.
Given the behavior of Democrats for the past two years and many of them up for re-election in red states in 2006, the Democrats have one hell of a hill to climb in regaining the Senate. At best, they'll probably lose more seats.
