A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.

You'd Never Believe...


why this is not a super-duper-wonderful-knock-your-socks-off thread...
and instead a let's-see-what-we-can-throw-together-quickly effort.
But here are some possibilies





1.Oliver had 24 kittens.
2. The FBI confiscated my computer.
3. Hurrican Dennis took off our roof.
4. Woolfie and I had a mad 4 day get-away
5. I had heart,lung, liver, brain transplant over weekend.
6. I was out of state getting art lessons from Billie.
7. As I was kayaking on the Euphrates River I decided to visit w/troops a few days
8. My HTML went on pity-party strike for user abuse.
9. I went flying with Dutchess to California to see Just Amy & Mama_bear.
10. Diver Dave, Scubachick and I went to the Bahamas to check out the water and hurricanes.
11. I went to help Gabz following her foot surgery.
12.Snugs needed help in England with her dad.
13. Aquamarine needed some help sorting out her geodes.
14. I stuck my foot in my mouth(again) & needed to have surgical removal.
15. I joined Lance/crew for the most recent stage of the Tour de France..


Well, whatever the reason.. ..

HERE WE BE!!!! ..

And we will “be” for 3 days on this one thread. So post fun things, words of wisdom & use this for a three day HTML sandbox - think billie will be around to help ...but a few will be traveling.

And to use this time to wish a happy birthday to my DEAR son Jeff who turned 33 yesterday. His bride of 10+ years Shannon has a birthday today. Here they are with their two children at Stan Hywet last summer.

You're probably going to get to the Canteen about the time I have to leave! It is after midnight here, and I have been staying up way too late these past few days. I guess I'd better tell you good night here!

Isn't that wonderful that two FReepers are getting married? I don't know them, but it sounds like such a sweet love story! I wonder if they are going to always communicate with two computers? LOL!

Actually, I'm always sending my hubby e-mails--of airplane pictures that I think he'll like....and he is only 2 rooms away! *tsk*

cover When seemingly needless suffering invades our lives, we often ask ourselves, "Who needs all this grief?" But consider, for a moment, the origin of pearls.

Each pearl is formed by an oyster's internal response to a wound caused by an irritant, such as a grain of sand. Resources of repair rush to the injured area. The final result is a lustrous pearl. Something beautiful is created that would have been impossible without the wound.

In today's Bible reading, we see Joseph in a position of influence, a position God soon used to feed surrounding nations and Joseph's family during famine. But how did he become influential? It began with a wound—being sold into slavery (Genesis 39)—which produced a pearl of usefulness. Because Joseph drew on God's resources when humiliated, he became better, not bitter. He named his second son Ephraim, which means "twice fruitful," and he said, "God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction" (41:52).

Author Paul E. Billheimer says of Joseph, "If human pity could have rescued him from the sad part of his life, the glorious part that followed would have been lost." So if you're suffering, remember: No wounds, no pearls! —Joanie Yoder

Good Morning Finest Friends. It wont be too much longer that Aqua will have up our weekend thread (and remember it is RED Friday) and the Mayor will have a cup of coffee & maybe if we are REALLY lucky, Amy & Lori will drop in to say "hi".

I want to thank all who participated with my "you wont believe" three day thread. I learned a few new things & "stole" a few new tables to use. I understnad from a little mouse (Billie) that a couple of you are building your own tables.. starting with zip. I commend you - way, WAY ahead of me.

Well until the new thread feel fee to chat / share here

Here's some history behind this idea:

When Norway was occupied by Germany in 1940, Norwegian women began to knit RED caps for children as a way of letting everyone know that they did not like what was happening in their country, that they didn't like having their freedom taken away by the Nazis. Many women knitted red caps for their children and others. Similarly, in Denmark, women knit red-white-and blue caps (colors of the Allies) for the very same reason.

The result was that whenever Norwegians and Danes left their homes -- to go to the store, to work, etc, they could see that the majority opposed what was going on in their country. As you know, both countries organized effective Resistance efforts and changed history -- everything that happened began simply by wearing red!

Get there early for time in gardens. if at all possible.. I know the long drive makes it harder.

The departure of the rest of my family, makes it pretty much impossible to get there early, Dolly. I have to leave here before they take off anyway (which makes me sad).........sorry!

you are doing so well with this..I am truly impressed. When I started helping posting threads here I had very ruidmentary HTML skills,.. picture posting, some font work but NO tables.. man, talk about a crash course!!! But i never had this kind of opportunity. The HTML tutorials are very basic ...OR so complicated I couldn't figure out diddle
