BILL O'REILLY, HOST: O'REILLY: In the "Unresolved Problem" segment tonight, we continue our reporting on the chaotic border situation. As you may know, President Bush has proposed a new law that would allow illegal immigrants currently in this country to work toward citizenship if they fulfilled some requirements like having a job and staying out of trouble.
Apparently, the Bush administration ordered the border patrol to ask apprehended illegal aliens about the president's proposed new law. And one of the questions was, did the rumors of amnesty influence your decision to illegally enter the USA?
Now chances are you've never heard about any of this because there may have been a cover-up. The administration is accused of not releasing information about the survey to the public.
One of those making the accusation is Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo, who joins us now from Washington. You really think they covered this up?

The President never said such a thing. They have to go the back of the line and apply for citizenship from their home country.
I guess now we will have 2 or 3 weeks of wall to wall coverage of this!
If we can't get them to leave now, how are we going to get them to leave in 5-7 years when their guest worker permits (if it passes) expires?
Easy, deport them. They will be documented. Most want to go back home anyway and if they want full citizenship, they go to the back of the line and apply from their home countries.
This is what Bush has proposed, not the blanket amnesty tancredo and o'reilly are saying and actually included in the mckennedy bill.
The Kyl/Cornyn bill is actually much closer to the President's proposal.

President Bush's proposal to reward illegal aliens with legal status would allow illegal aliens accepted into the President's work permit program to remain in the United States to apply for permanent U.S. residency. Bill O'Reilly and Cong. Tancredo accurately characterized the President's plan to reward illegal aliens with legal status.
I meant to include in the reply that I just posted the fact that neither Cong. Tancredo nor Bill O'Reilly ever called the President's plan a "blanket amnesty."
The President's plan would reward millions of illegal aliens that have intentionally violated this nation's immigration laws with legal status.
There shouldn't be a conservative in this country that is happy with the border policy of this administration.The security at our borders is so ridiculous that it makes the president look like a fool when he claims he is doing everything in his power to protect the homeland.He should be thrown out of office for putting the lives of every American in danger so he can kiss the ass of the Mexican president.
Simple, you won't.
Illegals living in the United States of American should voluntarily return to their home country or be deported.
This story deserves two to three weeks of wall-to-wall coverage.

I still say to get the illegals out is so easy but we(Gov't) don't have the nads to do it.
First thing is to not allow anyone not a citizen to be hired. We have the technology to do this now.
Do away with the anchor babies clause that allows the family to come in.
Then as POTUS I would declare that if you are here illegally you must deport yourself within ? of time. If you don't leave you will subjected to a huge fine and deportation.
I can dream and I know it won't happen. This country is not run by the people any more.
We will awake when it's too late. If I were 10 years younger I would have been with the(as W called then) vigilantes.
Any one with any experience in a developing country knows that if you give any kind of amnesty..tax, car licenses whatever..you will have to go it again and it only encourages more scoff laws. In the Philippines no one would renew their car licenses because they knew there was always and amnesty or the Govt would run out of new tags or something..so screw the law.
The Reagan era amnesty just generated another wave of illegals..
That would take implementing some serious measures, but could be done, and done efficiently during law enforcement stops, at DMVs, courts, businesses, jails, etc. A lot of Mid-Eastern types that are here illegally too, would also be removed. A big plus.
The problem is, there are a lot of people benefiting financially from this, so it would be a problem with them.
It's actually getting to the point where there seems to be little choice. Either get serious, or keep moving and eventually have a country made up mostly of people that are here illegally.

What are we waiting for? This should already be happening. Isn't the "matricula consular" sufficient documentation proving the person who possesses it is an illegal?
