Polluted Unborn Babies Evoke Pro-Life Talk From Abortion Supporting Congresswoman

NEW YORK, July 14, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - At most times, according to the international news service Reuters, and a Democrat Congresswoman, they are "products of conception" or "fetal tissue" that can be disposed of at a whim. But when an environmental issue is involved, they are transformed into "unborn babies," and "babies who have not yet lived outside the womb."

Reuters is a steadfast promoter of abortion and is particularly adept at following the abortion lobby's tactics of linguistic manipulation. But today's story of a report showing environmental toxins in umbilical cord blood starts with the news that "unborn babies are soaking in a stew of chemicals."

The report by the Environmental Working Group shows as many as 287 chemical pollutants were found in ten samples of umbilical cord blood, including mercury, fire retardants, pesticides.

Rep. Louise Slaughter, a Democrat with a nearly perfect record of abortion support in Congress, shared her shock and outrage that "These 10 newborn babies ... were born polluted."

"If ever we had proof that our nation's pollution laws aren't working, it's reading the list of industrial chemicals in the bodies of babies who have not yet lived outside the womb," Slaughter said.

Slaughter might be called to task for her logic however, since she has voted no on making it a crime to harm an unborn child during another crime, on banning partial-birth abortion, on banning cloning, on banning federal funding for overseas abortion and sterilization programmes, and on barring transporting minors to get an abortion.

This record of steadfast determination to enact laws ensuring that as many unborn US citizens as possible will be killed, in many cases by injection of deadly chemicals into the womb, might have been expected to put a damper on her speech in New York.

There is a history of the Environmental Workgroup with ties to environmentalist acvtivists such as Greenpeace. Here is an excerpt with a link to the pdf article.

typically show that children are most at risk by exposure to the substance in question. The study is then released at a press conference, often arranged by Fenton Communications, with all the trappings of a major scientific breakthrough.

Fetuses also magically become"unborn babies" in the Washington Post when the mother has HIV. It must be hard to live with such severe cognitive dissonance!

Slaughter (what an appropriate name) is calling the unborn child a "baby?" I'll bet she gets a call from the presidents of NOW and NARAL soon demanding that she retract those comments.

Not currently.

Reagan implemented the Mexico City policy via executive order, which stopped all federal funding for overseas abortions. Bush 41 left it in place, Clinton repealed it with an executive order. On his first day in office, Bush 43 put it back in place.

Now, unfortunately, Planned Parenthood receives federal dollars via Title X, and though it's probably illegal for them to ship the money overseas, it's not like the money is fully compartmentalized. It's like when they give someone food stamps, and they can't buy alcohol with it, but the fact that they get free food means they have more cash in hand to go to the liquor store with.

Here's what's really scary: One of the things Bush did in that first year (and every year since) was take all the federal funds that were going to the UN Family Planning Agency and move them to the budget of USAID. The reason? UNFPA was assissting the Chinese in One Child Policy implementation, and that included forced abortions and sterilizations. The feminists screamed from every available microphone that this funding change would hurt women all over the world. Yeah, forcing me to pay taxes so you can tie a woman to a table and force a major medical procedure on her, that's a heck of a lot of choice, eh?

Y'ever wonder about urban area liquor stores that also sell milk? They are legion in Illinois. I would not be surprised if some modest book juggling takes place to make the transaction easier. The real hard core alcoholics don't eat much (which is why they are often bone thin, compared to fat drunkards). And of course, food stamps are fungible. Sell them for 70 cents on the dollar, and buy whatever you want.

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Illogical enough that it's "fetal tissue" when being killed by its mother but an unborn baby when being polluted ... but if it's wrong for a third party to pollute the baby, how is it not wrong for a third party to kill the baby in an assault on the mother??
