Poor guy, I know how he feels... When I was younger and we would go out looking for girls I sometimes had to jump on the live grenade(you know the girls ugly friend). :(

They may have squashed the story because of the celebrity golf tournament
being held here in Reno, now that I think about it more.

RPG without the launcher from what I understood from the story.
The Worker actually loaded the thing into his golf cart and toted it back to the office.
It was a local broadcast, not national news from CBS/ABC.

I hope security steps up their rounds as long as the tourney is going on. A few RPG rounds into the crowd would be a slaughter.
You know, it could be a round someone slipped back from the gulf as a war trophy then they decided to dump it rather than face a federal weapons charge if caught with it.

Explosives Found
Incline Village & Sparks
Staff
In Incline Village, a family discovering several canister explosives on their property in a wooded area. The Washoe County Bomb Squad was called in...they located six canisters that were the size of a spray paint can. Police say the cans are probably explosives used in avalanche control.
The Washoe County Bomb Squad also removed a twenty-two inch Rocket Propelled Grenade from an apartment complex in Sparks. A maintenance worker at Park Vista Apartments in Sparks found the grenade near a garbage container. The bomb unit has the grenade and are working to determine if it is live.

A buddy of mine is the Bomb Tech who was called out on this. He's former SAS and fortunately for the residents of Washoe County, now makes his home here. At least you all can rest easy that some of the best of the best are taking care of the ordnance.

"Seem's that a maintenance worker found a live Grenade somwhere here in Nevada (Reno I think) and loaded it onto his cart and called it in to police. The bomb squad determined that the round was live.Uhhh! I don't know anything about grenades but it seems to me that if it was LIVE that meant the pin was pulled and wouldn't it have gone BOOM?

Live means active explosive, as in "could be detonated at any time".
That's my understanding of the terms use.

The bomb unit has the grenade and are working to determine if it is live. Sounds like a GI's souvenir.

Don't know anything about this situation, but by me (About 60 miles outside Vegas), in the mountains when they had those bad wildfires on Mt Potosi, I know they found a whole stash of grenades, and a few rifles stashed up in the woods.. amazingly nothing went boom.
