The London bombing once again begs the question: Why haven't terrorists struck the United States in the past four years?
Certainly the effects of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks are still felt by Americans.
Unfortunately, terrorists have succeeded in changing how we live our daily lives.
Americans worry more about being blown up now than when thousands of Soviet ICBMs with multiple nuclear warheads were pointed at the United States.
These days, we live under the constant fear of being the next victim of a random act, a mentality that makes us more fearful and less generous to strangers and forces changes in behavior that cost us all time and money.
Nonetheless, it is useful to ponder why the bad guys haven't struck within the United States itself since 9-11.
It certainly is not because Osama & Co. hate us less than they once did.

Possibly because the Islamicists have realized that attacking the US was counterproductive to their cause.
Because they're planning something big--on the order of 9-11 or worse.
We haven't, their Senate sleeper cell was activated and then instantly attacked. He apologized soon after, but may be preparing for another assault. Be vigilant!
I believe attacks have been stopped by arresting people. It just doesn't get much publicity, which is how it should be. But we can't let our guard down. I don't think it's because the terrorists have given up. Just waiting...
It's because we won't go wobbly.
At any rate, the fact that we've gone almost four years since 9/11 without a major terrorist attack on U.S. soil is not necessarily an indication of any kind of success. On September 10 of 2001, one could have stood up and said (truthfully) that there hadn't been a terrorist attack on U.S. soil in either five years (if you want to count TWA Flight 800) or six years (Oklahoma City).
I'd be much happier if we'd just kill them.
I cannot believe this graphic for one simple reason, NJ is NOT red!

I sincerely doubt this generalization. American's were much more afraid of nuclear holocaust than a bunch of silly, ignorant, sheep herders with AK47s and Semtex.
This is just a liberal pushing the liberal scare tactic. Americans are prepared for terrorist scum, and we've rounded up a number of local operatives, unlike the UK and Europe, who keep welcoming them to their countries, and calling them freedom fighters, and heros.
I think we have been spared because the islamderthals have something extra special planned for us and the timing isn't right yet.
This was addressed in an article today on techcentralstation. Basically, the Islamofascists are conducting a blood feud against us, with the intent of constantly injuring or terrorizing the western world in general. If they hammer against any one region repeatedly, it becomes easier to wipe them out/thin their numbers, as we are doing in Iraq. If they strike sporadically around the world, with gaps between strikes to allow life to more or less resume, they do more psychological damage. They hit us once, and are now going elsewhere, having gotten us to devote tremendous resources to closing the barn door long after the horse has left. They won't be back here again (per this theory) until we have stopped expecting them to strike here.
1993 (Oct.): Killing of U.S. soldiers in Somalia.
1996 (June): Truck bombing at Khobar Towers barracks in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, killed 19 Americans.
1998 (Aug.): Bombing of U.S. embassies in East Africa; 224 killed, including 12 Americans.
1999 (Dec.): Plot to bomb millennium celebrations in Seattle foiled when customs agents arrest an Algerian smuggling explosives into the U.S.
2000 (Oct.): Bombing of the USS Cole in port in Yemen; 17 U.S. sailors killed.
The fact that it is not possible to prevent private citizens from profiling probably has a lot to do with it.
I suspect most of the AQ people are spending their time running from "The Ghost Soldiers".
Those who are stll alive, anyway.
This guy Peter Brown needs to speak for himself, I don't live in fear. I go out in public, fly on the airlines, use mass transit. Does Abu Musab al Zaqari or Osama bin-Laden?
