Worker activist Michael Westfall remains defiant of the AFL-CIO union after signing a petition circulated in the United States by the American Family Association that calls upon the labor giant to forego its opposition to a proposed amendment of the US federal constitution that would define marriage as being solely between one man and one woman. The resolution passed by the AFL-CIO executive council calls for supporting the “full inclusion and equal rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the workplace and society.” The union’s resolution goes on to say that a proposed amendment to the Federal constitution - that is supported by many Christians - to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman would “would threaten the rights of working people by creating an environment across the nation that is hostile to the rights of domestic partners, regardless of their sexual orientation.”
The AFL-CIO suggestion that the AFA is ‘anti-labor’ is false, ridiculous and a slap in the face to Christian unionists who don’t want to choose between their union and their God. But if they have to choose then God will win. I would hope that AFL-CIO Michigan President,Mr. Gaffney, because of his leadership position, would get his facts straight before making any further erroneous statements,” Westfall said.
Westfall is a member of the AFA and is an ally of Gary Glenn – the president of AFA’s Michigan chapter.
In reference to the AFA and its work, Westfall says “These are people that work hard and put the Christian cause above themselves”. He defends unionists’ efforts within the AFA to support the marriage amendment and oppose gay rights initiatives. The vast majority of working folks in this country including those in the AFL-CIO are Christians and have families," Wesfall said. "The AFA is a Christian organization that supports families and is attempting to save the workers’ historic definition of family. The marriage amendment is important to our culture and nation. Our great unions should embrace this great ‘AFA’ organization, not wolf-pack and detract from it.”
Furthermore, Westfall said “the AFL-CIO leadership is 100% wrong on this issue and they are betraying the families of their members by pushing this issue.”

Why in heck is this union supporting queers? Guess they need more union workers.
They're a bunch of lefties. What have they done for the American workforce the last 25 years except drive almost all the manufacturing, and millions of other jobs, out of the country?
The union bosses do not speak for the working man. They are thugs and quasi-Commies.
