It's been about 24 months since I paid hard earned money to watch a movie so, it's about time to see another. Hopefully, I'll be surprised and "The Great Raid" won't be an excersize in political correctness.

The Great Raid might stink, if the commercials are any indication.
You're better off with Batman, IMO.

You're better off with Batman, IMO. I typically pay money once every 24 months to remember out why I avoid watching movies.

I don't know, Batman's a good reason to make an exception.

Was this from the book "The Ghost Soldiers"? Sounds like it.

It'll be great if they stick to the facts. The History Channel has doen a special on it and there's a book about it. I've seen the special and read the book, which is only aout 200 pages long. The raid was a realtively straightforward in and out operation, carried out brilliantly with few American casualties. There are also only a few main charactes, including the leader of the raid. If the screeen writers carefully studied the book and stuck faithfully to it, they should have been able to produce a good, exciting plot that would fit easily into two hours of film.
Hoever, given Hollywood's ghastly predeliction for hopelessly chopping up and altering the best of raw materials, like Tom Clancy's The Sum of All Fears, I have a horrible, sinking feeling they'll do the same with this story.

That's it. It's the only story on the Allied side like it in WWII. As I said, an easy book, for someone who's intellectually honest and patriotic, to turn into a really great movie. Yes, I am questioning and do doubt the patriotism and intellectual honesty of Hollywood.
