How could any musical genre's whose most commercially successful label looks like this --...possibly be associated in any way with extreme violence and bloodshed...? :)

Tragic, moronic, and ironic.
Jackie Chiles, is that you???

Hi All-
Chris Rock:
"...So there I am talking to my friend on the cellular phone who is trying to find my place. I says, 'Where you at?' to him. He says back to me, 'Chris, I'm out here walking on MLK right now.' So I tell him, 'You're on MLK? Don't walk...RUN!!!'
It's a great comedy bit, but it does superbly illustrate how black people in America need to clean up their act before their presence (especially in large numbers) is not categorized as a potentially violent situation.

Damn, I'm getting old: I had to Dogpile search the reference to Jackie Chiles. Your comment is very funny because I was writing it in the style of everyone's favorite recently deceased landshark Johnny Cochrane.

(laugh) The 'Jackie Chiles' character was modelled on Cochran, no doubt about it, so the echo rings true.

The sad thing is that some legislators somewhere, will use this incident to try and pass another gun law to disarm honest citizens.

Hi 1dadof3-
Another way to look at the situation is like this:
- A jury is about to announce a verdict of a high-profile (like Scott Peterson or Kobe Bryant) criminal case. What is the likelihood of white Americans rioting either to support or to register their displeasure of the findings of the jury?
- A sports team wins a league championship. What is the likelihood of white Americans joyfully overturning parked vehicles and setting celebratory housefires?
- A black motorist has a flat tire while driving through a white community while a white motorist simultaneously has a flat tire while driving through a black community. Which driver will likely mount their spare in uneventful peace and continue on their journey without risk of violent assault? Which driver is unfortunately in a potentially deadly situation due to an errant nail, tack, or screw?
Concerts? I've been to a million of them (heavy metal, folk, pop, techno, and even Woodstock '99) and you might see a drunken scuffle over something nonsensical...but always without the "posturing" and simmering violence that is a HUGE component of any rap event. If anyone is chomping at the bit to talk about the murder of the Pantera guitarist or the Woodstock '99 problem, I'm more than happy to go into detail.
