I've had carrier chow, and good describes it, not great, but good.

The times have a' changed! The navy did away with the "Mess Specialist" rating at replaced it with a "Culinary Specialist" rating. This happened just last year. They did more than just change the name, they actually taught these men and women how to cook! Gone are the days of chili mac and chicken & rice every single day. I've eaten aboard the USS George Washington, the USS John F. Kennedy and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and I was pretty impressed. Then I ate aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt and I was blown away by the quality of the food! I kid you not! I would pay for food that good!

OTOH I'll bet some of our ground forces would trade their MRE's and their next leave for some of that good chow right now!

Yep, and I remind my shipmates of this whenever I hear them complain about the food.

A serious allegation has no more basis in truth than a grave doubt.

...but in my brief years (considering the years that have accrued to me since) as Navy daughter, I never once heard of a secret prison ship.

Well, my dear, if you'd heard of one it wouldn't be a secret prison ship - right?

If we told you, we'd have to kill you! (heh heh)

Only 4 splashes? Surely you can do better than that.

When I was in (many years ago) there were some very good cooks on the ship. In order to find them all you had to do was go to the chiefs mess. The cooks talents declined as you went through the senior officers mess, the junior officers mess and the general mess. I have been back to restaurants that weren't as good as the chiefs mess.
Our cooks particular favorite (3 out of 4 meals each day for days) was roast beef and gravy, on rice. That had been one of my favorite meals pre-navy, and on my first day home, Mom fixed roast beef and gravy, on rice.

This is utter BS of proving a negative.

I bet the UN officials are demaning the "right" to inspect US ships now.

This is the result of allowing the congressional democraps to make a issue of Gitmo. What is it? Do they all want photo ops wearing ill fitting baseball caps with various ship names?

I just hope the US military DENIES this. Either way the loonies of the left will never believe them.

RUMORS? APPEAR? Pulleze. Newsweak-inspired rumors? Time Magazine?

Maybe that's why nobody's been able to find Osama in almost 4 years of combing caves and mountains.

Heh... I can just see him, chained to a really big oar.

Prison ships. Good idea! Of course we'd lose a few, occasionally...
