illegal immigration

And there's the crux of the point. We need an immigration policy that reflects the reality of the world today and not the polically correct view of it. Allow realistic immigration quotas and enforce the laws.

Or government officials should just admit that they don't care and just open the borders.

"much of Bush's backing came from Latino Protestants, many of whom are the same type of evangelical voters who supported the president across the country. "

I have more in common with many Hispanic immigrants than with some native New Yorkers and Californians.

Hispanics are very pro-child and pro-family.

In 2002 we got a new congressional district, which a court drew up, supposedly "neutral" but in fact Democrat. In 2000 it went for Gore, while the state was very Red. It is Denver's north suburbs, which historically have been blue collar, pro-Union and Democrat, and where many Hispanics are concentrated. The Democrat ran heavy pro-choice TV ads against the pro-life Republican, Bob Beauprez. Bob squeaked out a victory of less than 1000 votes. The same year, the Democrat Senate candidate, Strickland, tried the same strategy against Allard and also lost. IMHO, abortion triggered both Dim losses and is a big reason Dims are now under-performing with Hispanics and Catholics overall, a constituency they used to own.

Let's just make sure the Democrats get their message out!

The more Hispanics--and all other decent people--know about it, the worse off the Democrats are!
