Lets be calm. Before we join the lynching crowd, the onus to examine this British intelligence report falls on the shoulder of responsible citizens who are not after President George W. Bushs neck, politically or otherwise.
Invectives and verbal abuse against Bushs decision to invade Iraq based on the alleged fixing of intelligence report mentioned in the document is nothing but lapsus linguae if these come from polluted sources in Congress, allied Liberals or cause-oriented groups, politically driven protesting beatniks, and the profit-crazed, wayward media whose excuse for being is to sensationalize news.
These anti-Bush and anti-Iraq-war champions of the realm, will crucify GWB based on any iota of evidence though remotely connected, or on mere suspicion they could sink their teeth on, and will do exactly what they are doing now, with or without the outbreak of hysteria over the published Downing Street memo that insults and now divides the nation.
...
It was Telegraph reporter Michael Smith who originally caused the commotion when he published the contents of this particular memo and other British intelligence reports. Upon receipt of the document in question in September 2004, Smith alleged that a Telegraph desk secretary typed it in old fashioned typewriter and then Telegraph destroyed their copies of the original to frustrate any future police investigation of the leak..
It sounds phony to me. It looks like a conspiracy. It was on that stage where the saying goes, that if it quacks like a duck, it must be a duck or absence of proof, where there is smoke there is fire. Old fashioned typewriter, etc
why would Telegraph hide the original and obscure the truth if they claimed that what they reported was not a concoction?

Quick! Someone throw a new stick that they can go fetch..uhh...ummm...Hey liberals/Old Media, a friend of my cousin's thrice-removed brother-in-law whose doctor overheard a fry cook talking about a picture he saw showing Bush & Rumsfeld shaking hands with Kim Jong Il and Saddam Hussein. In the background of the picture, there was a banner that read, "Halliburton Intl. - Mission Accomplished."
Plus they retyped it Downing letterhead stationary...
or they faked the letterhead too....
Just as the onus to examine Dan Rather's report fell on the shoulder of responsible citizens who were not after Dan?
Rather than a duck, it makes me think of a donkey. And you know what they say...
If it looks like an ass, and sounds like an ass...Vote for the elephant.
Regardless, the memo is just some forgery by a spiteful intern, likely. And so should be treated with as much solemnity and accorded as much importance as "15 year old high school student condemns war in Afghanistan as illegal!"
Paging Lucy Ramirez.
