any girl old enough to get pregnant should have some say over their health care.
EXCEPT in the case of abortions.

I am a nurse. There is no explanation she could give other than the girl requested the test that passes muster. The girls life was in no imminent danger, she signed no consent for treatment, the nurse did not have a doctor's order for the procedure, the girls' family was not notified, I can go on and on. She should lose her license and be fined $25,000 for violating HIPPA laws.
It pays to hear it from someone who knows.

I simply refuse to accept that public schools should provide any medical care other than first aid until the paramedics arrive. If we're talking about verification of vaccinations, I'd be inclined to go along with that. Otherwise nothing more.
We don't even have school nurses in my school district, except for a few who do the vision and hearing testing (required by state law).

Was the boy arrested for rape citing the outcome of the test? Any boy who claims he raped somebody should have to go through some consequence.
GOOD POINT. Both the article and some other people seem to have forgotten about the "boy."

But, why should the family get anything? Because we have to sue over anything nowadays. We are "entitled" to money if we get wronged by anyone. Man I would be rich if I did that for every situation, some worse than this, for every time something wrong happened to me or didn't go my way.
Clearly, the girl was wronged here.

you will find Freepers can be pretty insensitive at detecting sarcasm
Hehe, now that is true. I used to be a lot more sarcastic than I am now. I decided to tone it down a little.

But, why should the family get anlything?
It has a deterrent value. A warning to other's that might think they have the authority they do not. I say good to the family. Blackbird.

I'll bet the nurse wanted a clean urine sample for a friend's drub test.

If it had much deterent value, then people would stop doing stupid things. The school will end up paying the settlement, so basically the taxpayers will pay this.
If the nurse needs to pay a price, fine. I see no reason the family should reap financial reward. They were not harmed.

(Yes, there are Republican teachers...)

and many of those school nurses are likely homosexual women.
This is true. Most of the bigger school districts in Texas are dominated by lesbians, and they hire as many lesbians as possible and put them in power positions. In their minds, the children are school property and parents are the enemy.
Government schools are evil.
Side note: Same goes for the CPS.

I thought doctors ordered tests.
