Clearwater, Fla. - A former sheriff received six months of probation, a $600 fine and community service after he was convicted of trying to enter Terri Schiavo's hospice to give her water.
Former Lee County Sheriff John J. McDougall, an outspoken Roman Catholic, was arrested March 19 outside the hospice — the day after Schiavo's feeding tube was removed.
McDougall, 62, could have avoided court . . .

It might be that I'm getting old and the world has passed me by. Let's see if I get this? The guy was arrested because he was doing his Christian duty as he saw it? And this happened, where...in America? He was giving water to a woman that the government said may no longer have any? That the government said... must die?
Why? Because her husband, living with another woman, no longer felt it advisable FOR THE INJURED WOMAN'S PARENTS to keep her alive? And the man wanting to give her water was arrested and convicted? In what country did this happen? When? Not Germany, 1939? But America, 2005.
WE ARE IN A LOT OF TROUBLE.

I am sorry to hear that he was fined for his conduct, but one day he will be rewarded for attempting to give water to the thirsty.

Exactly. Those nutcases ringing the hospice and demanding access to take her water (and a burger w/fries) would have killed her if they'd had their way. I guess to some, death by a stupid but compassionate act is far more acceptable than a person who states a desire not to have their life prolonged by artificial means.
With all the laws the widower Michael Schiavo has broken, he did not even get one hour of community service. BTW, is Mike still with his mistress Jodi?
Michael Jackson was given a total pass. But then he is a rich celebrity and only harmed a kid who had a terrible mother.
