There she stands -- clothed in pristine white, bathed in beatific soft focus, her face radiating a smile of saintly serenity. Are we contemplating a religious icon? After a fashion, yes: This is Hillary Rodham Clinton as she appeared on the cover of the May 23rd New York Times Magazine. The cover's caption invites the reader to partake of a homily honoring "Hillary Rodham Clinton and the Politics of Virtue."
The New York Times Magazine profile was part of a remarkable campaign by the media to canonize the first lady as the saintly exemplar of compassionate womanhood. The Washington Post published an oleaginous tribute to Hillary, praising her "spirituality" and describing her as a pop icon rivaling Madonna. In recent weeks Time, Newsweek, and U.S. News and World Report have all offered cover stories praising Hillary as the model of an "empowered" woman. The electronic media have been similarly enchanted with Hillary: According to the Center for Media and Public Affairs, while President Clinton received 42 percent positive coverage from the networks between January 20th and April 1st, the first lady's coverage for the same period was 78 percent.
The praise-Hillary chorus has been taken up by cultural publications as well. Both People and Family Circle have offered soft-focus profiles of Mrs. Clinton, depicting her as the soul of domesticity, doing her own shopping and cooking scrambled eggs for an ailing Chelsea. Family Circle insists, "In many ways, you couldn't ask for a more 'traditional' First Lady."

Remembering 1993, a walk back over the bridge from the 20th Century. The MSM is molding Hillary's image now, just like they did in the early 1990s. The MSM wants Hillary to be the next President Clinton. Reading this column confirms it, and gives us the chance to compare then and now. Nothing has changed.
If the people fall for this, I will be very disappointed.
But gridlock, they DID fall for it. That's why we need to remind ourselves just how slavishly the MSM will support Hillary's presidential campaign. I posted this old article as proof.
Wow, I actually had to re-read the byline, it indeed indicates the year as 2005. I feel like I have awoken in an alternate universe.
John Kerry graduated "magna cum D-". Which is a grade point above Al Gore. What were Hillary Clinton's grades in college? Anyone know?
They actually had that quote on the cover? Are they kidding? What`s next, Bill Clinton, the bastion of fidelity? Charles Manson, the pillar of stability? This New York times is on crack
Think of all the songs that came out, during that era, with spiritual/religions crossover themes. Teen Angel, Where Oh Where Can My Baby Be, and Kentucky Rain come immediately to mind, but there were many, many others. I've never thought it was a coincidence. The smart guys behind the recording business (and there were some smart ones) were actively working to counter the image that was being created by their detractors. By paying homage to religion, they were working to blunt the criticism. It looks very transparent and simple minded in retrospect, but no more so than these boobs from the MSM trying to make Hillary out to be a saint. Millions will fall for it.
There have been many items on NPR (both in their news programs and on their entertainment side) toying around with spirituality and spiritual values in recent months, always as vehicles for liberalism (of course).
(steely)
This fiasco reminds me of the infamous "Pretty in Pink" TV interview of her lying her butt off about the Billy Jeff/Monica fling under the picture of Abraham Lincoln! How clumsy was that??? The MSM lapped it up, of course, but the sensible public just shook its head in disbelief. Only New Yorkers would be gullible enough to fall for the Saint Hillary promo.
Did Chelsea suddenly turn 5 again?
Only New York? I hope you're right, but Steely, (with his musical analogy), reminds us just how manipulated we are. By imagry, spin, and outright lies.
What? Was Hillary cooking scrambled eggs for the 20-something Chelsea after one of Chelsea's all night benders?
Funny how Hillary is feverishly trying to erase the "I suppose I could have stayed at home baking cookies" crack.
It seems that most have missed the fact that this article was published 12 years ago.
What next? Will they try to pass her off as a virgin? (Any bets on how many demoncrats would believe it?)
Bump, good read YaYa!!!
A "Full Serving of Dogbarf" of an article. (Printed for dissection tonight)
