I live in Maryland and commute over 35 miles each way to and from work. I can testify to the ranking, I see it everyday. God forbid a cop has pulled somebody over during rush hour. The back up will be 20 miles long in 10 minutes because of the rubber neckers
Montana is #9 - Yeah, we made the top 10; I'll remember that next time I get cut off while driving.
Wyoming must be REALLY good...you have them down twice!
Those Dem states are the best and the worst. Interesting.
Although my great State came in third, I can tell you from personal experience that the only thing keeping us from the top is an abject failure in the concept of a four-way-stop.
And #50? New Mexico? How is this figured, by per driver accident claims? (I ehar Rhode Island has sky high auto insurance rates.)
Speaking as a motorcycle rider, I can say that Illinois' problems are concentrated in the Chicago (and perhaps East St. Louis) areas. Riding cross-state from south to north, I see the traffic quite well behaved and predictable until I get into Cook County. Then the maniacs appear who do things like sit 20 feet from my bike's tail while going up a steep, tight ramp curve with walls at 65 mph. What, I guess they like to see me have to tilt the bike at a 45 degree angle in order to negotiate that curve at that speed, it looks so cool. By the way I also know I am in Chicago because most cars are traveling at 75 mph on a road posted at 55 mph. Similarly, 25 mph zones get 55 mph traffic.
I was surprised New Jersey was so high in the list.
We moved to California from Iowa, and I give credit to the California drivers. One trip through LA, and I had blisters on my hands from gripping the steering wheel! Never drove in LA again. They may not do well on the written test, but I'll bet they excel in the driving test. (The Iowa written test is much easier too.)
The drivers' tests must be easier in the NW because the drivers here are by far the stupidest.
I can't believe Vermont made the top 10. I can go a week without seeing a turn signal.
By far the worst thing I see is the inability to go at a green light. What are these people so busy doing that they can't drive when the light changes?
I know they aren't on the phone because our cell service sucks.
Oregon leads in something good, for a change. :)
No wonder long road trips to the south from Maine make me so irritable.
