The 'We're Smart, You're Dumb' Principle - Democrats habitually treat voters like children
Los Angeles Times ^ | April 29, 2005 | DAVID GELERNTER,

Posted on 04/29/2005 2:12:46 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

The ugly truth is that Democrats habitually treat voters like children. It's the basis of their philosophy.

Who could possibly be against cutting voter fraud on election day? You'd have to be some sort of fruitcake. But when Georgia's Republican Gov. Sonny Perdue recently signed a bill to reduce voter fraud, under which voters must show a photo ID before casting their ballots, many of Georgia's black legislators stormed out in protest. ..................

For legislators to announce that getting a photo ID is too tricky for their constituents is downright amazing. Wouldn't you expect those constituents to say, "Drop dead! Stop treating us like morons!"?

......Lots of Georgia Democrats are outraged anyway. As Michelle Malkin points out on her blog, those outraged Democrats are treating their constituents like children. But actually the episode points to a bigger, deeper, uglier truth: Democrats habitually treat Americans like children.

That's the whole basis of Democratic philosophy (I use the term loosely). We'll take care of you. Leave the thinking to us. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, minority leaders of the House and Senate, respectively, — kindly Mom and Pop to a nation of intellectually limited youngsters. (But thank goodness, they love us anyway.)

How could anyone be opposed in principle to private investment accounts within Social Security? ...... after all, he wants to let you keep a great big whopping 4% of your payroll taxes in a private account instead of handing over every cent to the government. How on Earth could anyone be opposed in principle to letting taxpayers manage a minuscule fraction of their own money (their own money, dammit!) if they want to? Because private accounts violate the Infantile American Principle, so dear to Democratic hearts. Little kids should turn over their cash to the Big Smart Government for safekeeping.

Everyone I've spoke to against private accounts are anti-Bush and think that "most people" won't manage the money and fall prey to the evil stock market. The people I talked too think THEY can spend the money correctly. They also are fully aware of SS problem (they blame Congress)...and they also gripe about high taxes, which is my foot in the door.

This is the essence of liberalism: we're all children and need Big Father Government to take care of us. We're stupid and irresponsible and need to be protected from mistakes and the risks that go along with life. Liberals make sure we don't step out of our playpen lest we get hurt or killed. Their "compassion" is killing Americans' instinct for self-reliance and taking reasonable risks to make new discoveries.

It's fine when Dems bring up social security fixes, but nothing, nothing the president does will be met half way.

This is a brutally honest article and it is amazing to see this published in the L.A. Times. Of course the Democrats are treating their remaining, captive voters as retarded children.

This approach is central to the few remaining ideas of the Democrats, that the voters are sheep to be led by the neck, rather then persuaded by ideas. Though I doubt this visiting columnist will be invited back for another column, anytime soon.

Enough of the American population CAN think for themselves and CAN respond to facts placed on the table, that the Democrats' prospects get steadily worse as we look toward future elections. Click below for this idea as applied to (GACK) Hillary Clinton.

Latest column, " 'L.A. Chappaquiddick,' Starring Hillary Clinton."

That's because they are nothing more than an ordinary bunch of naughty immature children themselves. Demoncrats NEVER grew up.

"The ugly truth is that Democrats habitually treat voters like children."

I noticed this (not for the first time) when listening to the Laura Ingraham show yesterday. They were playing audio clips from the Democrats little Social Security rally they held with MoveOn. Many of the speakers led the crowd in chanting nursery rhyme-like slogans such as: "It's not wise, to privatize!".
