Without knowing the story, I wonder if they wandered off? Pretty rural area not far from here.
Several years ago a girl friend of mine found a toddler dead in the pond behind her home. The child walked about 300 yards, crossed one road and through three fences, and somehow fell into the pond. The parents were both passed out in their living room when authorities arrived.

I heard just a while ago that the kids were prone to wander off and had already done it once that day. For whatever reason this happened it will not make it less of a tragedy. I don't think I could handle it. The poor dad has to be devastated.
