On Fox News Saturday, Lanny Davis said "The real problem with Bush's court nominees is that they are way out of the mainstream." I wish I was there because I would have asked him, "Lanny, what is your idea of mainstream? Are the judges in the 9th Circuit mainstream?"
I am sure he would have avoided answering. Then I would have said, "Mainstream? Let's see, the House and Senate as well as the President are Republican as elected by the populace. Seems to me that indicates that mainstream in America is Republican, don't you think?"
He knows better, he is just hoping to catch some fish with his yarn.
The honest answer would be that we don't go beyond talking points, so there. Or maybe the answer is Republicans are all evil and crazy, so, even if there are more of them, they can't be "mainstream."
ANSWER:
Who is the WHO .. .. ..
New faces would take some time to learn to realize that they are lying, scumbag, crapweasel, dem, neocommunist replacements.
I think this hits on a VERY important point.
HELLOOOOO RUSH!!!!!
The mainstream is officially been voted republican. Democrat Party is minorstream.
Republican Party is mainstream.
FNC needs to be educated they are getting too cozy with the PR agents of Democrats.
Uh, 'scuse me, uh, Lanny, is it? But, uh, I think the, uh, mainstream, as you call it, uh, elected George W. Bush to the Preseidency of the US, and as well, the Republicans to the majority in the, uh, Senate and the uh, House, see?
The RAT party can be located "Up-the-Excrement Creek" party since BJ, Kerry, Hitlery, Dean and The Chappaquidic Whale are the party leaders. May they ever continue downhill to an end reserved for such a polluted creek- a commodious sewer.
This is one of the areas I give the GOP/Conservative talking heads a very low grade.
I've lost count of how many times I've heard a Schumer or Kennedy or Lanny Davis type speak of 'extremist, out of the mainstream' judges, yet I've rarely heard as focused a rebuttal or counter-charge from our side.
When they make these false charges of extremism we should be asking what is so out of the mainstream about them? Is it that they don't think the Constitution requires gay marriage/civil unions? Is it that they don't agree it was proper to create a right to abortion on demand out of thin air? Is it that they don't think diversity justifies racial preferences? Is it that they don't think the Establishment Clause forbids prayer before a highschool football game? Surely not, since all of these positions put them squarely in the mainstream of the American people, though admittedly out of the mainstream of East and West Coast elites.
And our side should be ready and eager to point out the numerous ways in which the Dem-favored judges have issued truly extreme, out-of-the-mainstream decisions. We should be ready to reel off the littany of such abuses as imposition of gay marriage, barring of even the most popular restrictions on abortion, banning of public nativity scenes, granting of citizen-like status to illegal aliens, and taking foreign law into account when 'interpreting' our own Constitution, etc etc etc.
If we could simply make the public aware of the truth about how what is really at stake is the question of who governs and makes laws in this country; the people and their elected reps, or judges, then we could win the battle. If we could show the Left/Dem's screams of righteous indignation that someone would dare question our Courts to be nothing but a self-serving attempt to bestow saintly qualities to and thus make beyond reproach the one branch of govt that will do the Left's bidding in the Culture War, then we could win. the If we could make it clear that it is judges like Ginsberg and Breyer who have a truly radical agenda, and that the worst thing a Scalia or Thomas or Owens or Pryor would do is to actually let the people, or the elected officials accountable to them, make public policy, then we could win.
I know talking points can become nauseating no matter who is saying them, but if our side began repeatedly pointing out the numerous ways in which the Courts have done for the Left what can't be done through the proper channels, then it would be obvious to all that the 'mainstream' the Democrats speak of if something very different than the mainstream of the American people as a whole.
