My dad is one of the "Greatest Generation", who was part of the Normandy landing in W.W.II. He's been the strongest man I've ever know. At 73 he could out work any man half his age. There hasn't been anything he couldn't fix or build. He had great foresight for preparing for his elder years. He waited on my mother hand and foot, sacrificing his own health issues, when she was so sick and almost bedfast the last years of her life.
In the past eight years his health began deteriorating rapidly. Through eight major surgeries and every complication you could think of, he's endured when his doctors have given us no hope. One of his doctors jokingly told him recently that he's had the best doctors in town trying to kill him off. I kept telling him that God wasn't ready for him, that he still had something to finish here before he goes Home.
This last week something happened in the family, many of us had been praying for, that brought some peace to a situation concerning my dad. So I wasn't surprised yesterday when word came through one of his doctors that my dad now has another very serious condition that will take him Home within a few short months. He is dying. I spent last week with him at the hospital, and will be returning today (he lives 4 hours away from me) to move him to a nursing home for the remainder of his time. His doctor is calling hospice in to help us. This is a bitter-sweet time for me. I know he's lonely without mother and so many of their friends who have passed before him. I know he's tired of this fight with so many health problems. I know at this point he has no quality of life he can enjoy. I don't like seeing him suffer and feel so bad. I don't want to lose him, but I want him to have relief and peace.
I have spent weeks and months with him in and out of the hospital over the past eight years, and I will be with him a lot during these last few months, as well as taking care of his financial interests to continue paying for his care. I will check in here for news when I get a chance.
I would appreciate prayers for him a quick and easy peace so that he doesn't have to suffer much longer.
Salvation, if you would . . .
Prayers. God bless him.

Prayers UP for an American hero.
Prayers up for you and the rest of your family as well.
My most sincere and heartfelt prayers for you, your Dad and your family. My father too was part of the Normandy invasion, and I can see his health starting to fail (he's 85). My Mom has been hospitalized 4 times this winter and my Dad has suffered. Mom is back home now, and seems to being doing better, although still weak.
In the last year I have begun to face the eventual loss of my parents and I know that it is a heart-wrenching thing.
You have my prayers for your father's peaceful departure after a life well-lived.
I'm so sorry, Texas. Prayers on the way for him and your family.
Prayers for your father. How fortunate you are to have a Dad that has shown you the full measure of a brave man's soul.

Prayers here!! My grandfather and all of his brothers fought in WWII. I wish more young people today knew of the sacrifices these men and their families withstood during a very scary place in time.
Go to church and purify your soul.
My prayers for your father and your family.
Thank you for loving your Father as you do.
Prayers for all of you.
Prayers for your wonderful father. You have written this beautifully. It brought to mind my own parents' struggle as they left this earth the past couple of years, also part of the "greatest generation" and my father was serving in the Navy at Pearl Harbor when WW II began. I pray your father and all your family will feel peace and love, and that his remaining time is not difficult. Thank you for sharing this with us.

**God wasn't ready for him, that he still had something to finish here before he goes Home.**
I pray that God will use your dad as an inspiration to those around him to offer up his sufferings along with Christ on the Cross.
May the Lord bless him and offer him comfort during these last days.
