Women send up pink smoke to protest male-only conclave to elect pope

CHICAGO (CNS) -- Before the cardinals locked into the Sistine Chapel had a chance to cast their first ballot April 18, a group protesting the lack of women's voices in the conclave gathered outside Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago to send up billows of bright pink smoke along with prayers for women to be heard. The event featured statements from several organizations supporting the ordination of women that called on the church to open its doors fully to women's participation. "At a time when young women are sold into slavery around the world, when war brings the rape of women, when it is women and children who suffer in poverty on earth and organized religions keep women in bondage celebrating the language of a male God, we know we cannot keep the silence demanded by male leadership in a church that claims to speak out for human rights," said Dominican Sister Donna Quinn, a member of the National Coalition of American Nuns.

"Would someone please explain to me how this woman can be a nun and not follow the teachings of the Church."

Our faith and traditions go back 2,000 years when Christ said to Peter "You are rock, and upon this rock I will build my Church" We believe quite literally in the words of Christ, such as when he said "This is my Body". Paul praised those who followed Tradition: "I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you" (1 Cor. 11:2).

Here's the problem - we are told to maintain the Traditions as delivered. Some people cannot accept the lack of change. This is especially hard for thelogians.

Part of the challenge is the size of the church. The bishops are charged with maintaining the traditions. If the bishop doesn't stop the behavior, it goes on. If the bishop is the problem, it requires Rome to smack him down. This takes time.

And people wonder why there will never be a Pope from the USA.
Our Church (in the U.S.) has become too PC and becoming a laughing stock around the world. Keep it up girls....

Heaven help us. My young daughter has expressed interest in becoming a sister. It's a shame that it's become a somewhat frightening thought.

When a "Sister" spews this type of nonsense, is it a sin?

It's heretical. It may be a sin, depending upon her level of ignorance, but we're all sinners.

You know, we haven't had a good 'ol fashioned inquisition in a looooong time.... :-)

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is suprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our three weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our four...no... Amongst our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again. (Exit and exeunt)

At bottom, it's her local bishop's duty to discipline her. There are some (many?) sympathetic bishops in the US.

Oh, man! Can always count on you for a laugh!! I got everything but the knitting covered. The hubster wouldn't want anything I tried to knit!!!

I honestly can't stand womyn like that. They do not speak for me. I'm perfectly happy being a stay-at-home mom. We're poor because we don't have the second income but there is a lot of love going on around here!!! I wish more women would give it a try. Money does not equal happiness!

STAN: Women have a perfect right to play a part in our movement, Reg.

FRANCIS: Why are you always on about women, Stan?

STAN: I want to be one.

REG: What?

STAN: I want to be a woman. From now on, I want you all to call me 'Loretta'.

REG: What?!

LORETTA: It's my right as a man.

JUDITH: Well, why do you want to be Loretta, Stan?

LORETTA: I want to have babies.

REG: You want to have babies?!

LORETTA: It's every man's right to have babies if he wants them.

REG: But... you can't have babies.

LORETTA: Don't you oppress me.

REG: I'm not oppressing you, Stan. You haven't got a womb! Where's the foetus going to gestate?! You going to keep it in a box?!

LORETTA: [crying]

JUDITH: Here! I-- I've got an idea. Suppose you agree that he can't actually have babies, not having a womb, which is nobody's fault, not even the Romans', but that he can have the right to have babies.

FRANCIS: Good idea, Judith. We shall fight the oppressors for your right to have babies, brother. Sister. Sorry.

REG: What's the point?

FRANCIS: What?

REG: What's the point of fighting for his right to have babies when he can't have babies?!

FRANCIS: It is symbolic of our struggle against oppression.

REG: Symbolic of his struggle against reality.

:) This is why our Catholic church is where it is today. They caved to political correctness and the fems and everyone else. Pink smoke. These women don't know what they are talking about. they are in a country where they can do just what they are doing. Let them try it in other countries and see where it would get them.

Male Priests, Male Popes. That's the way it is.

They should be concerned. After all, the new Pope will strap up, send out special Monk Squads in Pope-mobiles, and take over the earth. Women will be put in chains. How do I know this? Whenever I inhale purple spotted smoke, my thoughts are never false. Does Art Bell have a hotline? /sarcasm
