CBS Bob Schieffer doesn't have much of a sense of humor anymore, judging by his reaction to a quip from House Majority Leader Tom DeLay.
All of the Sunday interview shows devoted segments to DeLays ethical problems, but only Schieffer was appalled by how DeLay had told the NRA convention in Houston on Saturday night that 'when a man is in trouble or is in a good fight, you want to have your friends around, preferably armed.'
On Face the Nation, Schieffer read the quote to Republican congressman David Drier and demanded: 'Well, don't you find that rather inflamatory?'
Schieffer then pressed Drier 'to affirm that you're disassociating yourself from these kinds of remarks.'
Schieffer devoted most of the April 17 program to DeLay with studio guest Drier and from New York City, Democratic Congressman Charlie Rangel.

Yep, like most of the MSM who feign outrage on que if its a Republican. However, when it was Bill Clinton the MSM had no such outrage and in fact kept harping about the "Clinton haters" and those "out to get" Clinton. Bob Scheiffer is an old curmudgeon. Andy Rooney might be his liberal cousin.

Inflammatory? No, I think speech like Senator Byrd, who likened Bush to World War II Germany is inflammatory.
And a growing number of other Americans agree with me, as we send CBS into the ratings toilet more and more each day.
CBS must have nobody left on the bench. This old fart should have dragged himself off to the elephants' graveyard years ago.
I'm surprised there was a report on Schieffer's remarks. Nobody watches that I know of...
Delay is at the top of the MSM's hit list. Especially for CBS, whatever he says will be tilted against him beyond the absurd. The imaginary ehtics scandal that the MSM is trying to manufacture is fizzling, and it's getting desperate to make something stick. I am sure it has MoveOn.org and the DU in hysterics, but what doesn't?
