Time to pull Andy Rooney's feeding tube.

He may be a loon, but I think he's also a bald-faced liar. It costs at least $5.00 to get from NYC to NJ because of bridge and tunnel tolls, so unless his car has a 50 gallon tank he's in the red on that score alone. Add to that the fact that one doesn't just bop over to North Jersey on a lark (at any given moment one can run into stalled traffic that holds you up for hours) and I think Uncle Andy's full of BS. Nothing new there.

"Uncle Sid shoves mashed potatoes in his ears"

Rooney always bugged me whenever I watched 60 minutes. Someone gave me a book by him once. I remember thinking after reading some of his work that he is smug, biased, arrogant - just plain unappealing. I would not like to be in the same room with that guy.

I can't help but think that he probably fits right in with the rest of the 60 minutes folks in front of and behind the cameras. Giant egos, cocksure of themselves on any given issue, and usually dead wrong about everything. A bunch of rich liberals, living in their insulated world, thinking that they know how the rest of us should live.

He began by admitting that he, whom we all know to be a millionaire, drives 20 miles into New Jersey to buy gas because their state tax is slightly lower than New York’s

Liberals love taxes for other people, but when they have to pay them it's all very different.

after not having watched “60 Minutes” for a couple of months,

A couple of months? That's all it take to build up an immunization. I seriously have not seen 60 minutes since about 1997 or 1998, give or take a couple of hours. The only way I knew it was still on the air is that people keep posting looney rooney stuff on FR.

Rooney drives? I wouldn't let him drive a hot wheel car on a soccer field.

I think one of the major problems, if not the major problem in this country is that we have all these old, rich liberals insisting the good ol' days were the 1960s -- and insist we have to go back to that golden era of their prime. That's classic grouchy old men and women who aren't going to let go of control until the day they die. They all want to be the Pope now -- with a lifetime job, preventing the next generation from taking over. Instead, they insist they're still in control (of all their faculties), and haven't lost a step so everybody better get behind and follow their lead with none of these young whippersnappers forgetting their place -- at the bottom of the pecking order.

But the next generation are starting to realize, they've got nothing going for them but their seniority -- and in many cases, senility. I don't think that should be demanding top billing and top dollar anymore. They need to learn how to age gracefully -- rather than roadkill proclaiming themselves to be spring chickens and still the sharpest knives in the drawer. People want to be nice -- but there's a limit to that tolerance that becomes abusive. Don't tip over your own apple carts! Be humble and appreciate what you have as the gifts of society -- rather than be resentful and bitter that they are not getting their due. Ingratitude is always this ugliness that overstays its welcome.

I very much want him to take Lesley Stahl, a mere child of 63, along for company.

Another one with mush between the ears. At least Rooney could plead dementia but Stahl has always been pathetic. Bradley and Wallace can occasionally carry on an intelligent conversation but Stahl would be out of her depth on a 5k watt radio station reading the weather.
