It costs at least $5.00 to get from NYC to NJ because of bridge and tunnel tolls, so unless his car has a 50 gallon tank he's in the red on that score alone. Add to that the fact that one doesn't just bop over to North Jersey on a lark (at any given moment one can run into stalled traffic that holds you up for hours) and I think Uncle Andy's full of BS. Nothing new there.

What a great comment! I agree completely. He makes this stuff up in his CBS office, which most certainly isn't that cramped, old fashioned, rumpled little corner like a hole-in-a-wall that is his set for the show.
