Normal people should pass out pamphlets that explain to children why it's bad to tolerate homosexuals. It'll make more sense.
I'm sure glad as a teacher that none of this is being promoted out my way. Even if it was, it wouldn't make it into my classroom.
And I have to add, I've never even seen the books, "Heather Has Two Mommies," "Bud Has Two Buddies," "Peter Has Two Papas," "Bruno Has Two...." forget that one.

Interesting point. I think the meaning for the word tolerance has been taken way out of whack by people on both sides of the spectrum. To me, the meaning of tolerance is not even about homosexuality. It does mean treating others as I would like to be treated (wonder where that came from??). I try to teach that to my students and don't even put race, homosexuality (I don't even discuss this as I don't feel it really should be in schools).
I'll "tolerate" gays, but I won't "tolerate" their pushing of a political message or lifestyle in a place that it does not belong.
