Jane Fonda, Alan Colmes and The Inane Liberal Mindset
MENS NEWS DAILY.COM ^ | APRIL 7, 2005 | Sher Zieve

Posted on 04/09/2005 1:35:15 PM PDT by CHARLITE

Last night, while watching Hannity & Colmes, I resisted the temptation of throwing something at the television set. I’ve heard, consistently, from many conservatives who know him, that Alan is “really a nice guy”. Maybe so. But, his comments continue to be consistently absurd, mindless, immature, idiotic, perplexing and too many other adjectives defining ‘ludicrous’ to list here. One of his Wednesday comments, however, took the proverbial cake.

Engaged in a conversation with Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North, regarding Jane Fonda and her new book, the inevitable subject of Fonda’s Viet Nam war atrocities came up in the discussion. Please bear in mind that North not only had first-hand experience in Viet Nam but, knows this war backward, forward, inside and out. North brought up Fonda’s many treasonous actions, during the war and her comments and actions against the US were myriad. One of these that North brought up still has the ability to elicit the strongest of emotions from our Viet Nam veterans. On one of her trips to Viet Nam, where she sided with the enemy Viet Cong against the US and our troops, US prisoners believed they might have some hope…if they could just get messages to Fonda.

Having no idea that Fonda had become a communist-plant, our fathers, sons and husbands managed (at great cost personal to them and the risk of sacrificing their lives if they were caught) to get handwritten messages to Fonda. In their messages, our soldiers begged her to get their information back to the states. They were valiantly trying to get the true story of their imprisonment and torture back to the American people. However, instead of taking the messages home with her, Fonda turned them over to our prisoners’ Viet Cong captors. This resulted in even more severe torture and even death for our troops. Hanoi Jane had accomplished her job well.

Now comes the “kicker”. In response to North’s comments, Colmes (in his inimitable condescending fashion) had the impudence to say: “If we can forgive George Bush for his youthful indiscretions, maybe we can forgive Jane Fonda.” What??? Colmes is comparing Fonda’s treason and her directly causing the torture and death of American citizens to President Bush’s former “youthful indiscretions” with alcohol? Good grief! Does Alan even bother to take his mind with him, when he leaves his home each day? This reflects yet more liberal insanity and a gross lack of mental acumen. At its very best, this comment reflects a badly failing intellect. It is, also, one of the best examples of the way liberals think and, most likely, the reason why they fight against the death penalty for mass murderers yet saw no problem with Terri Schiavo’s forced euthanasia and support the abortion of babies. Most liberals are lunatics who do not appear to possess the ability for rational thought. Colmes’ comment is but another glaring example of their malady. This is, also, another illustration of why they must no longer be elected…to anything. Irrationality and stupidity are not prime qualifications for public office.

My own abiding opinion of Alan Colmes is that he is idiotic in the extreme. It has gotten to the point, as Sher says, that it really is difficult to stay with the show whenever Colmes is speaking. The points he makes sound - at best - like an 8 year old trying to impress his teacher. Unfortunately, he is also hard to look at. What Monica Crowley's sister sees in this nerd is beyond my comprehension.

According to snopes, the story of Jane Fonda turning notes over to the Vietnmese guards is a debunked myth.

I dislike Fonda, but this story is apparently untrue.

I always figured Colmes had something on someone to get where he is. He doesn't even seem self assured or confident.

Very strange.

Alan Colmes is a MORON. I've read his books. I've read essays by him. I've seen him in person at events. I've seen him on tv and heard him on radio. I've spoken with him personally.

I can say first-hand that he DOES NOT LISTEN to people when they speak. He simply hears keywords and reacts to them. My six year-old does a better job at political analysis than Alan Colmes.

He is one of the reasons I don't even watch network television any longer. It's strictly documentaries for me, educational programming. Just the bias in so much of it keeps me irked enough as it is.

"Good grief! Does Alan even bother to take his mind with him, when he leaves his home each day?"

Sir, you make a GROSS assumption here......hence your question is unnecessary and unanswerable..........

Colmes is incapable of doing anything but parroting back Socialist talking points. Between his moroning leftism, and Hannity's lowbrow approach to conservatism, I end up putting in a DVD when their show comes on.

Why Fox won't get some intelligent hosts (Oliver North would be a great replacement for Hannity, and a tree branch would fill in nicely for Colmes) is beyond me!

It never fails to amaze me how Alan can find "the other side" to take in any story, no matter how universally horrible it might be---

When Jessica Lundsford's murderer was found, I know he had a "liberal take" on it and I just turned off the channel. I am sorry that I can't remember what exactly he said, but it was pure Alan.

Okay, so we are to believe snopes that the story really didn't happen? Who are we to believe---do we think that Ollie would perpetuate a lie, if he knew it was one?

I gave up on Hannity & Colmes a long time ago. Colmes is just an idiot who gave up thinking when he was about 13 or so. Plus he is not even a telegenic idiot. And Hannity is nothing more than a parrot for the current Republican spin. Their show has become nothing more than who can shout the loudest and longest. After Brit Hume and Shepard Smith, I turn to something anything else.

Sadly, what Holmes voiced is shared by many Americans. They simply do not have any idea as what Hanoi Jane, big John Kerry, and other anti-war protesters got away with. And many people do not realize that the young Bush, a fighter jet pilot just followed what was expected by the Airforce, and of course mimicked by the Air National Guard.....that is fast driving, chasing women, and boozing it up. It was an embedded part of their daily routine. He simply went along with what was the acceptable and often desired behavior.
Of course some worm like Holmes cannot visualize how fighter pilots behaved. He probably is afraid to jump of the second step in his house, he could bust a knee or something.

I think your summary is pretty good, I've listened to his radio show and certainly if it's a political subject he seems to just purely react to buzz words.
Last night he was interviewing the minutemen guys in Arizona and showed no real comprehension of the world outside NY City and used the actions of a couple of hangers-on to tar and feather the whole group.

Alan Colmes is a perfect example of affirmative action.

A token dimwit to round out the agenda.

I think they make a great team. Hannity constantly cranks out and markets new books and Colmes is right there to color them in....

The network needed a liberal, one who would allow himsefl to be ridden rough-shod by Sean Hannity.
Combs fit the bill -- liberal, no conviction, no backbone, thinks it's all a big joke, barely does his homework.
Your basic pimp.

Personally, I'll take an irrational inane liberal like Colmes anyday over a polished careful one like Clinton. Colmes just makes the liberal talking points all the more transparent to the average viewer.

Colmes is NOT a "nice guy"; he's a lowlife liberal, hate-America socialist. Hannity's nuts when he says he's a "nice guy". He's a Klintoon, Gore and a Kerry lover = loser. I change the channel when he's on TV. Hannity's just a GOP parrot. Fox TV will soon be on my 'do not watch list'.
