REP. STEVE KING, JUSTICE TOM PARKER, ROY AND NIGER INNIS TO HEADLINE MARCH FOR JUSTICE II
March for Justice II Announcement Thread ^ | Wednesday, April 6, 2005 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/06/2005 12:19:53 PM PDT by kristinn

It's been a long time coming, even if it's only been three weeks in the works, but the speaker lineup for the March for Justice II has finally been set.

We are honored to be joined by Rep. Steve King (Iowa), Alabama Supreme Court Justice Tom Parker, Roy Innis and his son Niger from the Congress of Racial Equality and many other friends for the rally and march tomorrow in Washington, D.C.

The rally will be held at Upper Senate Park from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. After the rally, attendees will form into state delegations and march on the Senate office buildings to meet with senators and their staff and to deliver letters to them.

Upper Senate Park is located at Constitution Avenue on Capitol Hill, right next to the Russell Building, between Delaware Avenue and New Jersey Avenue.

Travel, parking and dining info here.

The purpose of the rally is to call attention to the need for oversight of the judiciary at all levels of government and to urge the Senate to employ the constitutional option with regard to the filibuster of judicial nominees.

The speaker lineup, as of this afternoon, in tentative order of appearance:

Ken Connor, Chairman, Center for a Just Society
The Honorable Tom Parker, Justice, Alabama Supreme Court
Gary Marx, Executive Director, Judicial Confirmation Network
Dr. Gary Cass, Center for Reclaiming America
Manuel Miranda, National Coalition to End Judicial Filibusters
Jeff Ballabon, Center for Jewish Values
William Green, Founder and President, RightMarch.com
John Armor, Esq.
George Landrith, President, Frontiers of Freedom
Kay Daly, President, Coalition for a Fair Judiciary
Niger Innis, National Spokesman, Congress of Racial Equality
Roy Innis, National Chairman and CEO, Congress of Racial Equality
Rep. Steve King (Iowa)

JimRob will be in attendance tomorrow, but he declined our invitation to speak. However, he gave me permission to read a brief statement by him.

There's still time to tell the boss you're taking tomorrow off to join us. The weather forecast is for mostly cloudy skies, temps in the 60s, chance of rain late in the day.

What about those of us (like you and me) who are "stateless" and "senatorless"?

I've got to stay behind to oversee the load out/clean up. Feel free to join a delegation. Your voice still counts, even if you are stateless.

I know Congressman King will do well. He's got a tough spot in the lineup.

Don't worry about King. He can hold his own, anywhere he goes.

It's been a team effort. It wouldn't have happened without the generosity of all the FReepers who donated for the rally.

How I envy all of the attendees. They are showing the cherry blossoms all over TV this week, and I just saw Newt Gingrich's "God Tour" of D.C. on another thread. Will there be live updates for those of us heart sick but cubicle bound?

Even though it is last minute, when you head over to the Senator's offices, we could co-ordinate making their phones ring off the hook as you approach--to show our solidarity!!
