"SAN DIEGO - Police shot and killed a 24-year-old minivan driver who pointed what turned out to be a fake handgun at them early Monday,"
Stupidest move. . .ever.

I hate replica guns. All they can do is get you killed.

Looks like a suicide by cop.

I believe in this case "too stupid to live" is a reasonable diagnosis

Sounds like a case of "suicide by police" to me. I have heard that this method is becoming more common than it used to be. Either that, or the guy wanted a Darwin Award.

Do you really believe this story? Which is more plausible, the guy pulls a fake gun out (from behind the passenger seat?) and points it towards a police officer? or the gun was a plant? I hate to think these things happen but really think about this.
To: SmithL
If it happened the way the officers say it did, I truly feel bad for these cops. I would hate to live with something like this.
Assuming it really happened this way.
The dead guy does not get to tell his side of the story.

Yes, I really believe this story. No, I don't think the toy was a plant.

Then, after he chose his target, pulled him over, peppersprayed him, and shot him, he planted a toy gun on the guy.
Please tell me you're joking.

So the police aren't even bothering to plant real guns on their victims anymore? Must have gotten too expensive.

Beyond the hysterics of the posters, I don't think anyone pulls a fake gun to cops unless you have chromosomes missing. I am not sure if it was planted, but I am certain it was his kid's or something that was left in the car. He was probably going for his license and registration in his glove compartment went the cop couldn't juggle between his donut and gun. Unfortunate, but that is what happens when you have dropouts with power.
