One of the most pertinent questions a man can ask himself is, “What exactly do I want from women?” Once that has been answered, and it should not take long, the next question becomes: “What do women want from me?” That, alas, is far more complicated to discern.

The unfortunate reality is that while most men are clueless about what women want, many women also are confused concerning their desires. It’s commonly assumed that women, as a group, desire children and marriage but that simply is not the case anymore. In the last few years attention has been given to “the female player” and absurdities like “men who get used for sex,” which is as paradoxical as the phrase “the fork was exploited as a eating utensil.” Yet, silly as this mumbo jumbo is, it doesn’t stop the media from sensationalizing the topic, nor does it prevent many young women from following the lead of the press. The New York Timesrecently covered, in a celebratory tone, the phenomenon of girls eschewing commitment in exchange for short-term pleasures:

“Yes, they take pride in having thrown off the shackles of earlier generations of single women. They are not waiting on Friday night hoping ‘he’ will call. They make the first move. They happily see two or three guys simultaneously. Spontaneity is crucial, but even more is a good clean exit strategy from any guy who turns out to be Mr. Not Exactly…While men are obviously central to the ‘The Hookup Handbook’ ethos (do you want to hook up with a Metroman or a Himbo tonight?), boyfriends are most definitely not. ‘A relationship isn't the easiest thing to maintain, but swearing off boys isn't a viable option either,’ the chapter on ‘Defensive Non-Dating’ states...

I've spoken to all my friends about the need to start looking for husband good father material. I may be 18, but how many women thought they had all the time in the world at 18? I don't want to be one of those desperate 40 year old women who gets her eggs frozen in a lab before they go to stale.

Women may say they don't want a family, but they do. It's politically incorrect to admit it.

Women are definitely more aggressive these days. I see it all the time. It's also a lot more common than it used to be for a woman that's not neccesarily rich to be a few years older than her boyfriend.

You're 18? Congratulations, I didn't even know what politics was at 18. You're way ahead of me.

All of this applies until the first wrinkle. Good luck with your hook-ups, and may God help you finding a nice guy after that.

Some women really don't want families. Some women want families, but are not willing to make the sacrifices and put forth the effort required.

One really can't 'have it all'.

Aggressive: meaning throwing themselves all over some guy. That's attractive, NOT.

Women should not be aggressive on the dating scene.

Many women are confused, because in the workplace it's good to be a go getter.

Figuring out a woman is like trying to hit a moving target... just when you think you have the relationship in your sights and under control, she goes and changes her mind about everything you had previously agreed upon and you have to start the process all over with her or someone else. At least that has been my experience. Me? I never change, and that drives most women crazy because they like to try to change men as much as they like to redecorate their home or their wardrobe. My mom did it all. She had 4 kids and full time career. I mean a CAREER, a business suit briefcase 9-5 career.

If you want to do it the way my mom did, you have to have a husband who is willing to do half the work.

Well, I'm not going to get into it with you over your Mom. :')

But if women really can have it all, then why bother looking for a husband now? Why not wait till you're forty?
