Something wrong here, if the BAPTIST Bible College and Seminary has no position. And later in the article, it said they don't know if they'll discipline him for this. HELLO!??? Tasering sometimes kills - he took the chance of dying to save a life. Sounds like a medal is more in order than discipline. Yeesh.

Official Statement on Dr. Dow Pursley

Dr. Dow Pursley is the Clinical Director of Counseling Programs at Baptist Bible Graduate School. We do not know the details of what occurred. While taking some personal time in Florida, he was apparently arrested. Dr. Pursley was not acting on behalf of Baptist Bible College & Seminary.

At BBGS, Dr. Pursley serves as a graduate-level professor and is Clinical Director of the Love-Life Marriage and Family Center. He is a dedicated man with strong beliefs and God-given convictions.

This is a copy of the e-mail I sent to the president of Baptist Bible College & Seminary:

I am appalled at your response to the courage of Dr. Dow Pursley - "Dr. Pursley was not acting on behalf of Baptist Bible College & Seminary."  Why does a supposed college whose mission statement includes "We Believe . . .  In the verbal and plenary inspiration of the original manuscripts of the Old and New Testaments, which constitute the inerrant Word of God" have to distance itself from a staff member who is literally living the Scriptures?

 

For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink.  Mat 25:42

 

They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?';  He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'  Mat 25:44-45

 

You should be applauding Dr. Pursley - not distancing yourselves from him.  I was wondering how it could be that a majority of so-called evangelical Christians could support the starvation murder of this poor unfortunate woman.  Now I know why - it comes from the cowardice of the seminaries.  I will pray that the scales will be removed from your eyes and your heart.  The time for political correctness is over - it's time for the "true" Christians, the Christians that "Believe . . .  In the verbal and plenary inspiration of the original manuscripts of the Old and New Testaments, which constitute the inerrant Word of God." to come forward boldly and take a stand like Dr. Pursley.

Neither of those charges will be supported when it comes to a hearing, so this is yet another case of prosecutorial misconduct (overcharging in the hopes of a guilty plea). Burglary?! Yes, a man carrying water to a dying woman is hell-bent on looting the place... of what, bedpans? And then they Taser him for being able to outrun them. Hence the 'resisting arrest without violence charge'. Which is yet another specious charge dreamed up by prosecutors in order to intimidate the arrestees that they have no case against.

Justice? We don't need no stenking justice. WE ARE THE LAW!

Just another publicity stunt. These protestors are a real pain to people who live in the area or who have loved ones in the hospice. In their efforts to save Terri, they are making everyone around them miserable. That may be unpopular to many people here, but it is the plain truth.

This is what I call the "easy bust syndrome".
It's a lot harder to bust real criminals, drug dealers, thieves, murderers but his guy is "real easy" to get. You can ever call backup, use the taser, use the cuffs, it must be great fun for some of the easy busters.

It's a lot harder to take the guy aside and ease him back to safety. That takes "real" police work that obviously is not taught in Pasco or Pinellas counties.

Cowards! The professor, OTOH, is a hero. I'd trust him with my life.
