Good post. Pity most in government are going to ignore it.
Two important points:
The culture of death has flourished for two primary reasons. The silent consent of the church and the misuse of our courts. Perhaps, the plight of Terri Schiavo will finally build some backbone into our Executive and Legislative branches of government once again.
and
With the advancement of abortion, sodomy, and now the execution through starvation of Terri Schiavo, the civil government of America continues to betray its sacred trust and deny the very purpose of their existence.
bump
This should go on a "The Sky Is Falling" ping list.
Terri is not being murdered - she is being allowed to die to be with God, instead of hooked up to an artificial creation of man. It seems everyone is clinging to the physical, and not spiritual, aspect of her being. I'm sure Terri would like to be at peace with her Eternal Father; it's her parents who sadly can't let go.
"The culture of death has been steadily marching in this nation since the infamous Roe vs. Wade Decision in 1973."
Interesting to note that the "culture of death" has resulted in thousands of fewer murders, rapes and assaults in the years since 1973.
PING
Personally, I wouldn't call it a "Culture of Death". These are the same people who are so health-conscious that they won't even allow for second-hand smoke to be in the same room as them. I would call it a "Culture of Self" or a "Culture of Narcissism." That is what they are most interested in: themselves, and nobody else. If somebody is inconvenient or disrupts their goals and feelings, then get rid of them. Death is simply one means of getting rid of inconvenient people, whether pre-natal, elderly or disabled.
Moral Absolutes Ping:
A fellow freeper (Outland) sent this to me today, and it is very apt:
"Call me a kook if you like, but I can not be disuaded from the idea that the Schiavo travesty is a test upon humanity. Not an accidental test, but one that was of purposeful and devine intent. Humanity failed the test and the ramifications of that failure may soon follow.
In the least, is has glaringly demonstrated how the law is selectively enforced; how little meaning life has in this age; exposed many self-professed "believers" of morality and faith; how our Constitution serves little more purpose than a door mat; how illogical humanity is; and worst of all... how our continuing apathetic inaction not only got us to this point, but maintains our course a totally unjust, immoral and chaotic society.
I'm not of the persuasion that this can't be changed, but instead, that it won't be changed.
In a way, it might be regarded as sick humor, but I laugh at the irony exposed here. Many "Christian" members of FR who are against the idea of doing anything pro-active or using force or "breaking the law" to fight an unjust imposition are the same who speak against socialism and the liberal mindset. However, it is this same apathetic inaction that socialism and tyranny thrive on and the very vehicle that it arrives on. They help to bring about the very doom that they dread. If we stayed that course long ago, there never would have been a "United States of America". And at this point, Im not sure there's much left of it now."
Let me know if you want (back)on/off this pinglist.

Here we have a mother and father who has dedicated their lives to caring for their daughter and we are witnessing their torture at the hands of those who just want this women dead for no other reason but, just having her dead. Then we witness those in authority who could stop it but, instead are washing their hands of of it all as if Terri doesn't matter.
Yes, this is the most appalling thing I have ever witnessed my entire life. God help us.
