Can I ride your coattails and ask other FReepers about moving back east? I'm a California native (San Francisco), and I need to get outta here! I was thinking somewhere on the east coast, maybe Chesapeake Bay, or some other coastal town in Virginia. Anybody have any ideas for a fun city with things to do? The weather would be a major factor - as little rain and snow as possible. And definitely no hurricanes. What coastal city on the east coast sounds like that? Thanks in advance!

Good evening. The best of luck to you.

If we couldn't live in FL, we would live in TX.

C'mon in, the water's fine.

To quote the Lyle Lovett song:

That's right, you're not from Texas,
That's right, you're not from Texas,
That's right, you're not from Texas,
But Texas wants you anyway!

It's a state of mind okay but you "immigrants" leave your CA attitudes right there where you started from, don't want any part of that c**p, no welfare cradle to grave BS, we have enough of that.

BTW, you ought to move to the Rio Grande Valley (where I was born and raised) first and put in your time so that you'll know how to deal with Texas blue county types, corruption and malfeasance. Welcome pilgrim but if your used to "touchy-feely" silliness then it's best you stay where you are.

We're one of the few, nowdays, native born Texans. Live in Denton, about 30 miles west. FWIW, learn to love the tollways, get used to hotter temps, and learn to set back and chill with a Shiner beer.

Welcome to Texas. Can't recommend a church, but there's a bunch around. Just open the yellow pages and start visiting.

You don't even need to worry about ANY of that crap from me! Another few years in this state and I probably would have had all of "ugly, nasty" guns taken from me and a taxpayer paid trip to a re education camp.

I want to live in a Red State for a change...

You have my sympathy--I was born in San Diego and used to be proud of being one of the few native Californians. Sorry to invade your state, but it is so nice there and with great homes I can actually afford to buy...

FWIW, the guy that sold me his house is relocating to North Carolina, so I won't actually be adding to the population, just replacing.

I am a California Native, but this is not the same State I grew up in.

I vacated in '88 and never looked back.

Blessings for a safe journey. Good thing you're not moving to Tyler TX. The latest story outta there is that a whole house was stolen, stick by stick. Picked clean, like a Fiat left unattended on a Sicilian roadway.

In what part of town is your job? I'll be happy to suggest the best way to get there. If you want a large church, you'll need to commute to Frisco or Plano. I don't think there are any larger than 5000 members in Allen. What brand are you looking for/what flavor of theology? I'll be happy to give specifics tomorrow or Monday.

We have relatives who have lived in North Dallas for decades (my brother-in-law is a native from Silverton) and we visit from time to time - - usually stay a few weeks. I really like the place and the roadwork there is beyond belief. If you are from the Los Angeles area, you won't know what to do with all the time you are NOT crawling along in your car.

Umm none! You gotta like rain if you want to live on the East coast.
