Rick Santorum - R - ( the good guy from PA!!!) just spoke on this, stating that ALL Republicans have backed it.

It is only the Democrats who are standing in the way now.

He further added that there are only two (2) hours left before this is abandoned and will not be able to be enacted in enough time to help Terri. He allerted all to contact their Democrat leaders and urge them to approve this.

For Terri....get out those emails and make the phone calls. NOW! Other Terri Schivo threads give full information, contact numbers, etc.

If they got the RINOs on board, I'm expecting Democrats to sit on their hands. It should pass unanimously in the Senate via voce.

If "all the Republicans" back it then it becomes law. The Republicans control the House, Senate, Presidency and Supreme Court. How do you pretend to blame the Democrats? Does your elevator make it to the top floor?

He said it. This is not an issue for argument. I am not insulting you, but obviously you find that more important than the issue at hand. Just do what is right or go away.

So Chafee, Collins, et al, need to get on board, if they are not.

Why not try what the media calls the "nuclear option" on Terri's Bill if the members are still fearful of using it with the judges?

This would really get the Democrats' attention!

I think he means that popular West Virginian Robert C. "Sheets" Byrd won't give up the floor to have a vote. It takes 60 votes to have a vote.

Yes, there is some that is "open for clarification" from his comment. Thanks, I just wanted to get his request out before the time was up.

But, the important fact is: There are only two hours left, and he implored people to send emails or make phone calls to their Democrat senator offices and get this moving before the deadline.

The ins and outs of the proceedings, and taking the time to question them, (not you, I am not referring to your comment per se, but others criticisms) uses up the precious time that we should be emailing and phone calling. I have done so already. Please, let's get this done.

"The Republicans control the House, Senate, Presidency and Supreme Court."

Since when did the Republicans control the Supreme Court?

Are there any Recall options for the Senators or is that only a local option?

Does your elevator make it to the top floor?

Hetero, you could have made your entire point without inserting the last sentence of your post, which was meant for no other reason but to insult somebody else.

I miss the early days of FR when everyone posted and got along, basically, without the personal insults. The last two years at least a new breed of FReepers have arrived on the scene who just have nasty attitudes and can't make their point without a personal attack. Pratice making a point without inflicting your arrogance on the forum next time.

The word over at NRO is that the Senate has passed it with a voice vote. No word on whether there are differences between House and Senate versions.

A Reuters report seems to indicate that the House and Senate versions are different, so there will apparently have to be a conference committee to reconcile them.

Let me help you with your ciphering.

Rehnquist, Scalia, Thomas. Kennedy, O'Connor and Souter were all appointed by Republicans.

That's 6 of 9.

I'll be happy to observe this standard. Of course, you don't say anything when Freepers call for assassinating world leaders who criticize the US, for instance, as recently with Hugo Chavez. So, color me skeptical. But I'll go along with it until proven otherwise.

I didn't insult or attack anyone on the forum either. That was the issue, not some other issue you dragged into it.
