It is this reporter's opinion that the newly appointed attorney general, Alberto Gonzales, is performing true to form. Soon after he accepted the office, the National Council of La Raza, the nation's largest Hispanic civil rights organization, honored him at an awards ceremony in a highly public move in the group's effort to alter its image as a left-leaning organization. Need we remind Gonzales that "La Raza" means "the race" - either you're with them or against them.
They say timing is everything. On the 9th of March, the day before Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was to meet with her Mexican counterpart, the president announced that he was opening rehearings on the death penalties of 49 Mexican nationals convicted of murder. The grounds for the rehearings is that the 49 were not given world court rights when they were convicted - they were not given the privilege of contacting their Mexican consulate. Nor was that effort made by the U.S. government on their behalf. Therefore, the president would now give them that opportunity.
Some of the 49 have served behind prison walls for as long as 25 years! But it seems timely on the part of the president to now extend that privilege under the world court. Let me remind you, this was announced on the 9th - one day before Condoleezza Rice would meet with Mexican officials.
It is also noted that President Bush will meet with Mexico's President Fox on the 23rd of March. Obviously the president is throwing a bone to the Mexicans, who do not believe in the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole.

VIVA LA RAZA!!
That anti american SOB should neve have been confirmed much less appointed ag.
There is no chance that our current or any future illegal immigration laws will be enforced as long as he's in the position.
Ya think?! lol (SIGH)
We've been duped...
Our only hope is withing the House to stop this idiocy!
I disagree with Senior Derbez. I think it is correct, legal, and long overdue. Perhaps if violence breaks out our government will get off it's bloated ass and put troops on the border. After all, isn't that what every other country in the world would do if they were being invaded?
Don't worry, Ambassador Garza will get this all squared away.
You know Garza, the guy who just married the MEXICAN BILLIONAIRESS.
I'm sure he's pulling for the American middle class.
Rice made the announcement on March 7th. Bush reopened the investigation on March 9th. What's the explanation other than another end-around by Bush?
Deport the illegals!
Ike did it, so can Bush!
"Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada."
"For The (Hispanic)Race everything. For those outside The (Hispanic) Race, nothing."
Our current Attorney General is, to my knowledge, still a member of La Raza.
Imagine a white Attorney General who belonged to a white supremist group, with an identical white racist motto.
It's beyond belief.
Here's another quote from 'Ms. Murguia', as she made her public debut as *La Raza's* new president & chief executive, at the *awards ceremony* the other night.

Murguia, "I want to make a clear point: We are reaching out to all sides, we're going to build coalitions, build bridges and PUT OUR PEOPLE FIRST."
"Bone" in the singular??
The President has "thrown" the entire skeleton to the Mexicans.
Imagine a white Attorney General who belonged to a white supremist group, with an identical white racist motto.
It's beyond belief."
Call me a cynic, but I've a feeling the Bush Administration has a few other surprises in store for us that will be "beyond belief" during the next few years.
I googled "La Raza funding" and came up with:
Americorp, DisneyHand Minnie Grants, The Ford Foundation, The Rockefeller Institute, etc...
