Nicaragua: the Ortega former president will briguera the presidency in 2006

MANAGUA - the former president of Nicaragua and historical leader of the Face sandinist of national release (FSLN, left) Daniel Ortega was designated Sunday like candidate for the presidential one of 2006. This nomination is disputed by the renovating wing of the party.

Daniel Ortega imposed his candidature. Herty Lewites, another historical head sandinist, however claimed the behaviour of primary elections.

Herty Lewites, very popular in Nicaragua and better placed than Daniel Ortega, according to surveys', was even excluded from the Face to have announced its presidential aspiration. It shows Daniel Ortega to behave like a "dictator" and is estimated threatened of death.

At the time of the last two presidential polls, the FSLN had organized primary educations, gained by Ortega. It would be the fifth candidature of Daniel Ortega, president of 1979 to 1990, in spite of its failures of 1990, 1996 and 2001.

Ortega recently agreed to support president Enrique Bolanos until the end of its mandate, in January 2007, to try to defuse a constitutional crisis. Mr. Bolanos had shown the parties of opposition to plot to try to reverse it.

Sandinistes hope nevertheless to return to the capacity. Bolanos is indeed weakened by fights within its party and political attacks of rivals who show it corruption.

Sandinistes reversed the Somoza dictatorship in 1979. But the government of left of Ortega alienated certain sectors of the company and ran up against the United States, which subjected it to an embargo and supported the rising of the guerilla Contra. Ortega was beaten with the elections of 1990 by Violeta Chamorro, candidate supported by the United States.

Every five years, or so, like clockwork.

Don't tell me: He's against illegal immigration, supports the U.S. in Iraq, and adopting religious and moral values. Hey, it's working for Hillary.

Bob Novak had a column a few weeks ago about how the Sandanistas have completed a silent re-takeover of the military and how the next step is to formalize their control of the country via the political system. The Chavez-Castro bloc -- along with their slightly less noxious allies in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile -- is on quite a roll. Bolivia will fall before long. Colombia muddles through.

There are some good people on Bush's LA team -- Roger Noriega, Otto Reich -- but I think they have trouble getting face time.

I think Generalissimo Francisco Franco would make a fine running mate. They are both equally viable. . . .

And in other news, Tom Harkin announced that he would be Ortega's running mate.
Also John Kerry was named as chief military adviser to Ortega.
