Immigrant faces smuggling charge after $280,000 discovery(Texas)

Hector David Herrera Martinez sticks by this story: Someone left on his doorstep the $283,473 that Kimble County sheriff's deputies found in the car he was driving.

But authorities believe Herrera, 40, had illicit intentions in mind –- traveling to Mexico without reporting the cash that deputies near Junction seized following a traffic stop on Feb. 17.

A federal grand jury in San Antonio indicted Herrera this week on a charge of smuggling bulk currency, and he's expected to make his first federal court appearance in San Antonio in the coming week.

Herrera, who lists an address in Bartlesville, Okla., is listed in a Kimble County report as an undocumented immigrant and is being held at the Kimble County Jail on an immigration detainer, and for suspicion of money laundering, a state charge.

The accusations were leveled against him after Deputy Billy Hull found more than $280,000 in a safe in the trunk of a 1987 Lincoln Town Car that Herrera was driving. Herrera was pulled over for allegedly changing lanes improperly, a police report said.

Upon searching the vehicle further, Hull found $3,478 under two of the seats in the car.

In a signed statement, Herrera said someone left the cash on his doorstep.

Hardly the wages being sent home to Mexico that are earned by our illegal aliens....They use money orders.

This one is likely a dope dealer or a dope dealers employee......

8 years ago we arrested an individual going south on 87, he was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, his car was impounded. Within 9 hours we had 3 call on the status of the vehicle, conserned about all the interest in a rusted out 87 Buick regal, we chose to search the vehicle again. Sewed into the back of the right side passenger seat was 84,00.00 dollars.

El Presidente Fox's wife is going to be furious. This was her cut of sales from the North Central Region for the third week of February. Black History Month is ALWAYS a good month. IIRC, the cash will be confiscated by the apprehending agency and spent to "further police efforts." When Fox's representative (with political immunity) knocks on the Court House door to ask for Sra. Fox's money back, or at least part of it, it will be too late. Oh, well, ther's all the other regions and all those other weeks.

Watch Lou Dobbs tonight and listen to Cong. Ortiz D.Texas, on the border committee. He gets it. Especially about MS-13. I suppose someone will call him a racist.

If you can get your hands on $10,001 dollars (preferably cash), go to the bank and deposit it.

:)

Dare you!
