Iraqi TV broadcasts terrorist ‘confessions’

BAGHDAD - U.S. officials tell NBC News American and Iraqi forces captured one of Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi's inner-circle in a raid Feb. 20 near the border with Syria — just missing al-Zarqawi himself.

The man arrested is known as Abu Qutaybah and he decided who, when and how other militants met al-Zarqawi. He told U.S. officials al-Zarqawi is on the run — never sleeping in the same place two nights in a row.

Friday’s announcement comes as the Iraqi government this week launched an unusual new anti-terror campaign: A gritty TV show called “Terrorists in the Hands of Justice.”

Every few hours on state television alleged insurgents confess in gripping detail.

Keeping the terrorists in suspension [by the appendages, using a broad somewhat elastic ribbon, and not a rope which would cut in the appendages, for that would be needlessly cruel] would greatly facilitate their confessions in even more gripping details.

We should rehabilitate them so they can attend Berkley and CU.

I wonder what the Iraqi definition of 'gritty' is. Is this show carried anywhere on satellite TV?

It is looking more and more like they may capture the Z-man in due time. I believe I heard on the L/MSM that they missed him by about an hour. So HUMIT must be paying off. But the guy is slick. He probably can slither between a crack in the wall, when felt threatened, as his voice calls out to his loyal followers to fight the enemy to end, obey allah, receive your 72 white graps after the bullet hits you in the head, allah is great.....he gave us sooooo much sand.

Love those quotation marks around "confessions." Remember that headline from Citizen Kane, Kanidate Kane Caught in Lovenest with "Singer"? Then one of his friends remembered (not verbatim), "he built an opera house for her to perform in to take those quotation marks away."

"The man arrested is known as Abu Qutaybah."

I'll bet he's spending a pleasant time in jail.

The police put detainees on display for the local media. Several looked beat up. A relative of a murdered policeman said he interrogated a suspect himself. The police denied torturing any of the detainees. To prove it, they lined up the accused, asking if they'd been beaten. Each said no.

Whoa! Paybacks are a .....!

The show has already proven wildly popular

I bet!! What a goldmine!

Ok, now which US cable outlet should start carrying "Terrorists in the Hands of Justice"?

I'd like a regular spot on C-SPAN for "TITHOJ". Throw the lefties into fits, spending American taxpayer dollars airing the confessions of terrorists... Count me in.

There are two groups killing Iraqis and Coalition people there. One is composed of Al Qaida terrorists led by Zarqawi. The other is made up of Iraqis - the insurgents. These broadcasts will split the two. We've already heard of negotiations aimed at assimilating the insurgents back into Iraqi society. Then the foreigners will quickly become persona non grata.

Anyone not in military uniform carrying an RPG will automatically be an enemy of Iraq. The civilians are allowed to keep guns in the house so the projected lifespan of the RPG-carrier will shrink rapidly. At least Al Qaida won't have to worry about their pension accounts being under-funded.
