The question was; what did Ehrlich know about Steffen, now the question is; when did OMalley and the Democrats know?
You know the story. The Washington Post broke it last week. An Ehrlich aide had been spreading rumors about OMalleys alleged infidelity. OMalley and his wife held a press conference at city hall and talked about how these rumors had affected their family. It was moving. How could the Governor do such a thing? Ehrlich refused to apologize, despite demands from many, including myself. But thats just part of the story.
Joe Steffen, the aide, is a longtime associate of Governor Ehrlich. He was fired when this story broke. Last fall, he was posting at Freerepublic.com, a conservative web site, speculating on rumors that OMalley was having and had had affairs. Sometime between last summer and last Tuesday, someone brought this to the attention of the Washington Post. (pt 1). Also while Steffen was posting, someone appeared on the site, MD4BUSH, who pushed and prodded to Steffen to tell more. Steffen and MD4Bush spoke in a private room (pt2) and exchanged thoughts about OMalley and again MD4Bush pushed and prodded Steffen. Who was MD4Bush?
Jump ahead to November when OMalley referred to rumors about himself. (pt3). The media didnt bite, since apparently no one except the Post knew about Steffens postings. But Rob Douglas and I received a tip that the Post was going to print with a damaging story about Ehrlich. It came from a Democratic insider. (pt4). And in the hours before the story broke, more tips that it was coming. It was going to really damage Ehrlich, said the source.
And then the story broke. Followed up ridiculous accusations that Ehrlich lied about ever hearing rumors, no one is asking the important question.
1-Who gave the story to the Post? It could only be Steffen, The free Republic, very unlikely, or MD4Bush. 2-Who is MD4Bush? If the Democrats knew about this as far back as August, when did OMalley know? How could the mayor have not been informed of Steffens actions back last fall? Why doesnt someone ask him? 3-and what if MD4BUSh is a Democrat with ties to OMalley? What does that say about the timing of his heart-pulling press conference? Where is the press on this?
Hint, Free Republic had nothing to do with it. Looks like a Democrat Party set up to me.
MD4Bush = DU troll
Nope. Official mole.
This story is like flipping over a dried cow patty....just when it crusts over and stops stinking, something comes along with a stick......
I didn't think there as any "if" about it.

Not meaning YOU, JR....
Do you think it was someone from their Statehouse?
Nope.
Pinging the odd bunch ..........
Any clues from the server logs? IP address etc?
Does a bear... well, never mind.
"Reporters Grilled In Rumor Probe (Who is MD4BUSH?)"
This is a roller-coaster ride.
After reading the above thread which began earlier in the day (Saturday is for shopping), it took a while before I figured it out.
MD4Bush is obviously a psuedonym for the two reporters who "broke" the story after trolling around, getting private emails, hitting a mother-load and setting up a very gullible NCPAC (Steffen).
I think that summarizes what I learned. Thank you Jim.
Whatever information you can glean from the server might be very revealing about this mole.
Most definately a set up...I will be willing to bet its someone he knows...in his own office.
Picture this: He mentions in passing that he posts to FR over lunch somewhere...
A person not to fond of him over hears of his 'freeping' and decides to target him.
How else would they know not only that its him, but to target him via freepmail?
Yes.
He does.
I think your #4 says it all...
Absolutely elated that they've selected Howard Dean, as Godfather.
Hey. I like the screen, but does it do the weather as well? :)
Look, it took CBS 5 years to break the story on Bush's National Guard duty...
