Only In The Idealist's World Is The U.N. effective
MILNET ^

When the world's nations gather to debate how best to conduct relations between themselves, it is only logical that a worldwide meeting place based on fairness and equality should be the forum. For half a century, that place has been the United Nations. However, modern times have shown that the idealistic solution has severe and sometimes catastrophic limitations.

The spectacular failures of the U.N. have shown that its ability to counter malicious minded intent to deceive the organization is almost non-existent. In addition, its fairness doctrine which assume all nations participate with equal authority does not take into account that not all nations recognize the need for fairness, indeed some use that rather naive approach as a weapon for delay and obfuscation.

The result is the cry for reform within the U.N. and indeed, by some, for abandonment of the old ideal for a much more robust and new concept. Yet few have much to offer in the way of an adequate replacement. Still the debate continues, touching on issues that were voiced at its creation following World War II.

What the world needs now,
Is love sweet love.
It's the only thing,
That there's just,
Too little of.

Even in an Idealist World the UN would be corrupt.

The UN is a bogus concept from the start. It is a democratic organization with both good guy and bad guys have equal votes.

It would make a LOT more sense to have a League of Free Nations.

If the purpose of the organization is to protect civilized nations from the uncivilized ones. The uncivilized ones shouldn't have equal votes (and especially shouldn't have VETO rights!)

Lol, now that's suitable for framing...

The "signature" is a nice touch.

The only "replacement" that might have a chance of achieving the UN's alleged goals is an alliance of freedom-loving nations - any nation wishing to join must adopt the same philosophy to gain acceptance. Such an alliance would have no more than a quarter of the nations in the UN, as of this post.

Aside from that, no replacement is better than what we currently have.

H.R. 1146 will WITHDRAW the USA from the United Nations' madhouse/cesspool.

Go to: http://www.getusout.org/un/index.html . Then go lobby at http://www.conservativeusa.org/megalink.htm .
The United Nations is a corrupt disgrace and it is time for the USA to WITHDRAW from and defund the United Nations. Please tell your senators, congressmen and everyone you know to support Representative Ron Paul’s bill H.R. 1146 which would WITHDRAW the USA from the United Nations, prohibit US funds going to the UN and prohibit US troops serving under UN command. H.R 1146 is the American Sovereignty Restoration Act.
The whole mission of the UN is to take power, money and national sovereignty from the USA. Thus the United States must withdraw from and defund the UN and if we go, if we are lucky, the whole thing will implode.

That bill has been getting more and more votes every year (since its introduction in 2001). Let's make sure the positive momentum continues.

Can you imagine the veto-less wonder in the WH staring at that thing on his desk? His worst nightmare.

"Can you imagine the veto-less wonder in the WH staring at that thing on his desk? His worst nightmare."

A stunned and speechless Ralph Kramden comes to mind:

"Homina, homina, homina..."
