IDF, ISA thwart J'lem suicide bombing
Jerusalem Post ^ | Feb. 10, 2005 | Margot Dudkevich

Posted on 02/10/2005 9:35:50 AM PST by Alouette

A Palestinian who planned to launch a suicide bombing attack in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of French Hill in the coming days was arrested on Thursday afternoon in a combined operation carried out by IDF and ISA (Israel Security Agency) forces in the West Bank city of Nablus.

The man was identified as Mahran Shukat Abu-Hamis, 21, a resident of the Ein-Beit Ilma refugee camp in Nablus, who planned the attack in an attempt to derail the cease-fire declared during Tuesday's summit in Sharm e-Sheikh.

Abu-Hamis was involved in a number of terror organizations. The planned French Hill attack was jointly set up by Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

According to officials, Abu-Hamis was also involved in recruiting suicide bombers in the Nalbus area, who were to perpetrate attacks inside Israel.

He operated together with Tanzim fugitive Doud Katoni, who was responsible for planning suicide bomb attacks in Israel between August and October 2004, attacks which had been thwarted by security forces.

His plans to blow up a packed bus in French Hill had reached advance stages when he was arrested on Thursday.

Abu-Hamis's arrest was a result of information gleaned from other fugitives arrested by security forces in the area in recent weeks.

Yep, this "cease-fire" is working real well. Peace should "break out" soon. Any minute now.

FRmail me to be added or removed from this Judaic/pro-Israel ping list.

WARNING: This is a high volume ping list

Hooray! That the bomber was stopped.

Did the Palestinian New Democratic Leadership stop this?

Did the Palestinian New Democratic Leadership stop this?

The IDF did.

But soon they will no longer be able to carry out these raids in Nablus.

Apparently not everybody's on board with this "hudna."

How come every time one of these disasters is averted, it *never* involves the so-called "Palestinian Authority"? Isn't this supposed to be one of the first conditions of the dopey "Road Map" -- that they clamp down on terrorists?

I just wonder (and fear) how many Jews have to die before the faux euphoria over this latest round of b.s. dies down.

It was a cynical remark. The Bush Administration's demands that Israel remove all Jews from some major chunks of Israel and that part of Jerusalem be given over to the Muslims, and the failure of the administration to fully recoginise and decalre publicly that Jerusalem is the capital of Isreal -- those three things provoke terror and bring it to flame.

Did the Palestinian New Democratic Leadership stop this?

Soon we will see "New Hamas" akin to Tony Blair's "New Labor" (aka "A New Name for Socialism Without Saying So To Hide Our True Motives")? The world would no doubt buy "New Hamas" and blame Israel for not giving more land and security away and "overreacting" to "a handful of extremists not representative of the leadership of 'New Hamas'"

Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

PFLP, eh? I'm sure there's no Syrian involvement. [sarcasm alert]

So there are three reasons - all the fault of the Bush Administration - that provoke terror?

Some people in here just think we should nuke the whole Palestinian people, and anything less than that is Bush's "weakness" on the Palestinian issue. Most fail to realize that GW is hands down the most pro-Israel president we have had in history

Well, at least you're honest. Ignorant, but honest.

So what were all those attacks (Khobar, WTC I, Beirut, Israel '67, Israel '73, Munich '72, Achille Lauro, etc.) before Bush took office? Perhaps the terrorists were psychic?

A) There is no such thing as a "palestinian people."

B) Giving $350 million US dollars to Jew-killing genocidal arab muslim terrorists removes him from the running for "most pro-Israel president," sorry.

Palestinian people is a universally accepted term for the people we are discussing. Just because you don't accept it does not make it so. Name a president that has been more pro-Israel please

Guess again. Listen to a former PLO terrorist and "palestinian," Walid Shoebat

Origin and identity of the so-called Palestinians

Palestinians are the newest of all the peoples on the face of the Earth, and began to exist in a single day by a kind of supernatural phenomenon that is unique in the whole history of mankind, as it is witnessed by Walid Shoebat, a former PLO terrorist that acknowledged the lie he was fighting for and the truth he was fighting against:

“Why is it that on June 4th 1967 I was a Jordanian and overnight I became a Palestinian?” “We did not particularly mind Jordanian rule. The teaching of the destruction of Israel was a definite part of the curriculum, but we considered ourselves Jordanian until the Jews returned to Jerusalem. Then all of the sudden we were Palestinians - they removed the star from the Jordanian flag and all at once we had a Palestinian flag” “When I finally realized the lies and myths I was taught, it is my duty as a righteous person to speak out”

This declaration by a true "Palestinian" should have some significance for a sincerly neutral observer. Indeed, there is no such a thing like a Palestinian people, or a Palestinian culture, or a Palestinian language, or a Palestinian history. There has never been any Palestinian state, neither any Palestinian archaeological find nor coinage. The present-day "Palestinians" are an Arab people, with Arab culture, Arabic language and Arab history. They have their own Arab states from where they came into the Land of Israel about one century ago to contrast the Jewish immigration. That is the historical truth. They were Jordanians (another recent British invention, as there has never been any people known as "Jordanians"), and after the Six-Day War in which Israel utterly defeated the coalition of nine Arab states and took legitimate possession of Judea and Samaria, the Arab dwellers in those regions underwent a kind of anthropological miracle and discovered that they were Palestinians - something they did not know the day before. Of course, these people having a new identity had to build themselves a history, namely, had to steal some others' history, and the only way that the victims of the theft would not complain is if those victims do no longer exist.

Honest and cognizant. I understand your point -- the terrorists are in the end, as men themselves, fully responsible for their bad acts. That is true.

The Bush administration -- by the first thing I named, removing the Jews settled in parts of Israel -- is tossing a killer bee's nest into someone else's back yard. The terrorists who have for generations been trained and cultured to hate to the death Jews and Israel are empowered and made vital such provocative act. Their past terrors are rewarded! Why not continue the mad swarm!

And the last two -- Jerusalem -- to force a split in that, to deny it as the heart of Israel -- that is like releasing a rabid dog into a neighbor's house at night while they sleep.

As a crime we would call that being an accomplice before the fact. Not only the murderer is hung -- but the willing accomplice too.

When we or Israel stood firmly blocking the terrorists -- they deminished. Reagan ran from Beirut, Clinton from Somalia -- both acts brought strength to our enemies, and led to our bloodshed. Did General Sherman add new mansions to Atlanta for the sake of peace, or did he treaty more grazing land to the Plains tribes who were on the warpath?

He burnt it down, he cut them off from supply. He won two wars.

Like I put alot of stock in the word of a terrorist. That aside, the world community accepts the term, call them elephants if you want. Are you going to answer my question?
