Did they define the "occasional" sports drink? What do they mean by that, only on Wednesday, only during Lent, only during hot weather? I hate that sort of imprecision.

Have they looked around? Sorry Philly freepers but Philly could be the most disgusting city I have ever spent time in. I have never driven through such long stretches of bad neighborhoods. It really depressed me.

Why don't they allow diet drinks? They don't have any calories. Sports drinks, fruit juice, and milk have calories.

recommendation by the American Academy of Pediatrics Your patronizing pediatrician who also snoops about gun ownership in the home.
AAP on Gun Control
"Nearly 75 percent of those surveyed strongly agreed that community efforts to enact gun control legislation should be supported by pediatricians. Fourteen percent agreed somewhat."

All through my junior high and high school years (mid-to late 60s), soda was optional, meaning that you could bring it yourself if you were so inclined, but damned if the schools were going to push it. Not a bad attitude, really.

Fruit drinks must be of 100 percent fruit juice, with no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors. . . . Flavored and sweetened milks are OK, but no artificial colors allowed. So the flavorings and sweeteners are a health risk if added to fruit juice but fine if added to milk? Well, I guess Philly has never been known for producing rocket scientists.

I'm still coming to grips with the fact they have soda machines in schools in the first place.
