Media are easy marks (Eason Jordan @ Davos)
The Toledo Blade ^ | Feb 5, 2005 | Jack Kelly

The scandalous remarks of Eason Jordan, CNN's top news executive, last week at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and the failure of the major media to report them suggest the distortions are deliberate.

Mr. Jordan told a panel that the U.S. military had killed a dozen journalists in Iraq, and that they had been deliberately targeted. When challenged, Mr. Jordan could provide no evidence to support the charge, and subsequently lied about having made it, though the record shows he had made a similar charge a few months before, and also earlier had falsely accused the Israeli military of targeting journalists.

The Head of CNN News making outlandish charges about our military is what really caught my attention. But his take on the pathetic nature of the recent terrorist hoaxes is good too.

But more to the point, why are major media so quick to disseminate anything that a terrorist group, or purported terrorist group, releases? For the terrorist, it is like being given millions of dollars in free advertising.

Great observation.

Perhaps a little diversion from the FACT that some journalists have conspired with the terrorists to place roadside bombs that will kill our troops.

Thanks for the links. I should've done that.

For those new to the story:

Forumblog is the original source, from someone in the room when it happened. CQ's has the most detail and background on it and Jordan's other comments. La Shawn (a fellow FReeper) has consolidated all of the relevant links in one place.

At least she is 'available' The other three asked to resign by the so-called 'independent' investigation simply said, "No." ABC would have to hire thm away from SeeBS.

Still at CBS, and apparently have employment litigation lawyers on retainer.

Note that Chris Dodd was there and it was Gergen not Dodd that got upset at the remarks. Its sad when a U.S. Senator will sit for that kind of talk and not stand up for his own military.
