Muslims Call For Pentagon Action Over General's Remarks Thursday February 3, 3:30 pm ET
Commander of Marine Division in Iraq Says Shooting People is 'Fun'
WASHINGTON, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on the Pentagon to discipline a top general who earlier this week said it is "fun to shoot some people."
At a public event in San Diego, Calif., Lt. Gen. James Mattis said:
"Actually, it's a lot of fun to fight. You know, it's a hell of a hoot ... You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them." The audience applauded the general's remarks.
Mattis leads the 1st Marine Division in Iraq. He is based in Quantico, Va.

"We do not need generals who treat the grim business of war as a sporting event," said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad. "These disturbing remarks are indicative of an apparent indifference to the value of human life." Awad urged that "appropriate disciplinary action" be taken against Gen. Mattis.
In 2003, CAIR called for similar action against Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin, who told church audiences that he is in "the army of God" and claimed Muslims worship an "idol." A Pentagon investigation of Boykin's remarks concluded that he violated regulations by failing to make clear he was not speaking in an official capacity and did not obtain prior clearance for the remarks.

I want an agressive general. Let the PC whimps wring their hands. Good leaders save American lives.
The best way to end war is to kill the enemy.
I would be happy to shoot "men" who abuse women. I think I could come to enjoy it but at first it would be no different from shooting rats.
Has CAIR issued a similar statement condemning the murder of the Egyptian Christian family in New Jersey yet?
Certainly, there's something that can be done to stamp out this group of terrorists.
So what can we promote him to next? Five star general?
This is what CAIR is all about:
"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become
dominant. The Qur'an should be the highest authority in America, and Islam
the only accepted religion on earth."
--Omar Ahmed, Chairman of the Board of CAIR (Council of American Islamic
Relations), San Ramon Valley Herald, July 1998
CAIR: Comfort & Aid to Islamic Rubbish.
"It is a certain fact that not all Muslims are terrorists, but it is equally certain, and exceptionally painful, that almost all terrorists are Muslims."
-- Abdel Rahman al-Rashed, general manager of Al- Arabiya news channel
Four star would be next for him.
How about bunker busting the ragheads in Detroit and then the scummie bung swipers in Atlanta. The only good islamic is a dead islamic. Come and get me, be prepared to eat buck shot.
The General is probably not stupid. He was probably speaking off the cuff and may have had second thoughts about his wording soon thereafter. However, we've got to make it clear to CAIR and others that they are not 'privileged persons' protected from criticism and barbs. Even the General has a right to his opinion, even when it's unpolitic. When you live in a free country, it goes with the territory.
ENOUGH OF THIS G/D P/C CRAP!!!
By Gum, CAIR's right, action must be taken. Give that man a Commendation Medal, or whatever the Marine equivalent is.
I don't think it is a very professional or intelligent thing for the general to say. Killing may be part of one's job in the military, but to revel in it publicly is deplorable, IMHO.
Offensive? No, more like the truth. Islam is responsible for the world-wide terrorism going on, and yet American Muslims try to ignore all that and blame others for being 'intolerant'!
Point taken but Lincoln made that statement in the 1860's while Patton was sacked (a couple of times) in the mid 1940's. Not only that Lincoln was a different breed - Lincoln was going to do everything he could to win the war and nothing was going to get in his way. Let's see if this is more like the Lincoln era or the FDR era. It is ironic that we expect our warriors to be warriors but then when they don't hold their pinky correctly when drinking tea, people get their panties all in a bunch. I say promote this guy too - that would send a powerful message.
Well certainly, a promotion is in order!
Ibrahim Hooper: "CAIR does not support these groups( Hamas, Hizbullah) publicly."
CAIR was founded in 1994 by two former officials of the Islamic Association for Palestine, a group that former FBI counter terrorism chief Oliver Revell acknowledged was formed as a front for the Palestinian Arab terrorist group, Hamas. One of CAIR's official founders and its executive director, Nihad Awad, openly expressed support for Hamas, Hizbullah, and numerous other Arab/Islamic terrorist organizations. Mr. Hooper has defended Saudi financial support of Palestinian suicide bombers. In spite of this, much of America's present political establishment embraces CAIR as a legitimate, mainstream, Muslim-American organization.
It'll be a cold day in hell before a general is sacked because some handwringer at CAIR got his knickers in a twist.
