Muslims Call For Pentagon Action Over General's Remarks Thursday February 3, 3:30 pm ET

Commander of Marine Division in Iraq Says Shooting People is 'Fun'

WASHINGTON, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on the Pentagon to discipline a top general who earlier this week said it is "fun to shoot some people."

At a public event in San Diego, Calif., Lt. Gen. James Mattis said:

"Actually, it's a lot of fun to fight. You know, it's a hell of a hoot ... You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them." The audience applauded the general's remarks.

Mattis leads the 1st Marine Division in Iraq. He is based in Quantico, Va.

"We do not need generals who treat the grim business of war as a sporting event," said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad. "These disturbing remarks are indicative of an apparent indifference to the value of human life." Awad urged that "appropriate disciplinary action" be taken against Gen. Mattis.

In 2003, CAIR called for similar action against Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin, who told church audiences that he is in "the army of God" and claimed Muslims worship an "idol." A Pentagon investigation of Boykin's remarks concluded that he violated regulations by failing to make clear he was not speaking in an official capacity and did not obtain prior clearance for the remarks.

CAIR, America's largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 31 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

Has CAIR issued any responses to the beheading videos?

If not, I think it has waived it's right to be indignant.

So when someone talks about men slapping women around CAIR thinks that implies Muslims? They represent Islam? Are you sure you want to go down that path?

This is what he said...

"You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil," Mattis said during a panel discussion. "You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them."

This is offensive? What am I missing here? And they don`t just slap them by the way, they also stone them to death if they step slightly out of line as one can see in this lovely picture. Me personally, shooting them is too good.

About to be Stoned

I want the Pentagon to take some action too. Promoting the general, for instance.

Time for the legal playing field to be used to drive CAIR out of the country, instead of it being used for them to drive us out of the country.

Sometimes the truth isn't pretty.

Kudos to the soldier!

It IS the Muslims that should be ashamed; not the soldier for speaking truth.

BTW, where the hell were they when INNOCENT people were slaughtered at the WTC and had their heads sawed off? I FIND THAT UNTHIANKABLE let alone offensive. The Muslims religion is PURE EVIL. How's that for being offensive?

I agree with the General. And I DO NOT take ANY life "lightly", mind you. But the General has a good point.

Besides, in war, you fight those whom are fighting you - those whom are shooting at you. So you shoot back. And if you happen to know that the cowards shooting at you, trying to kill you, happen to be the same cowards who oppressed any and everyone they had a chance to while they were in power...well, I can see taking them out and saving the populace from them as a fun and satisfying thing to do!

"You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway...

I think the general was actually talking about guys with no manhood. Perhaps CAIR is on to something by automatically equating this description with themselves...

Wow, this is George Patton Jr. redux.

This guy will be sacrificed on the altar of PC and ROP just like Patton was before him.
