Bookmarked.
The Baloch tribes have their own brand of Islam, have fought wars of independence in the past 30 years against both Iran and Pakistan (successfully, both times), and are known mercenaries.
That being said, if we actually *knew* that OBL was there...OBL wouldn't be an issue any longer.
BUMP!
Very true.
Bump for later................
Why do I find all the interesting long articles just when I have to leave?????
Thanks for posting this Rdb3
Thanks for calling my attention to this-- I've been trying to set up a home network today, and while it has surely improved from the days of DOS and Novell, there are still gremlins to work out of the system, and I've been offline a lot.
There's a ton of information out there as well about Saddam's WMD program which has been ignored by the mainstream press, and oddly, has also been sat on by the Bush Administration. Perhaps Mr. Lance can focus on pulling this information together for his next book.
Before I left for school today I freepmailed this article to myself. LOL
I've had time to read it since getting home and don't think this is a Bush bash book.
It's interesting that he interviewed Jayna Davis and understands that Nichols/McVey didn't act without foreign help at Oklahoma City.
Also, I read a book about Ramzi Yousef a while ago. It's called the Two Terrorists, I think. Over half the book is about Yousef who was the most experienced bomb expert the FBI had ever encountered in over 75,000 investigations related to bombs. Reportedly he knew how to take down an airliner using items hidden in a contact lens case and a watch.
It was during Gorelick's time. Clinton's time.
Also, it should be noted that he fully understands that McVeigh/Nichols didn't act without foreign help to bomb the Oklahoma Murry (sp?) Building.
Jayna Davis's book The Third Terrorist is an absolutely brilliant piece of writing which has been endorsed by James Woolsey, former CIA director, and several FBI anti-terrorist specialists.
I don't know when Gorelick came on the scene - but I was thinking it was after Clinton's re-election - in order to protect the donations mess. I thought she wrote her famous "wall" memo in 1997.
This is very interesting due to the media's constant speculation on US intentions toward Iran. Could the demand for nuclear inspections have a second purpose, to uncover Bin Laden?
I agree partially that a lot of what they did was to protect Clinton. The Gorelick memo was to protect the connection of foreign dollars financing Clinton's re-election. But .. as usual .. the dems are so short-sighted the Gorelick memo also prevented our agencies from connecting the dots of some very dangerous people.
The other reason was because it was the appeasement policy of the admin.
Albright admitted that America being a super power was a problem. She believed (and said that the President agreed with her) that by giving other countries some of our technology and weapons information .. this was going to level the playing field.
In other words .. this dippy broad thought that if you give your enemy the very same weapons you have - then he won't have any motive to shoot at you - because he's as powerful as you. The logic of this outlook is just beyond all common sense. You don't give your enemy weapons. But .. the dems don't think these tyrants are our enemy.
You can see how this attitude would not allow the admin to get tough with these outlaws and criminals. And .. they wanted to treat it as a legal issue and not a terrorist/WAR issue. But .. on the other hand - Clinton was good at bombing other countries - where he didn't have to be accountable for the deaths of Americans in a ground war. It was also Clinton who initiated the "no pictures of coffins" issue - it was not the Bush admin.
This is a "just damn" if I ever saw one.
bump for catch up.
If no one had any idea....Tom Clancey never would have had material to write his novels.

Marking...
