LONDON - Dustin Hoffman flew into London, and denied reports that he planned to settle in Britain permanently. Hoffman arrived with his wife, Lisa, Sunday to promote his new film, "Meet the Fockers," the sequel to 2000's "Meet the Parents," in which he stars alongside Robert De Niro (news), Ben Stiller and Barbra Streisand (news).
The 67-year-old actor told reporters at Heathrow Airport that media speculation that he plans to move to Britain was wrong.
"I was doing some publicity for this movie in the states, and one of the things they asked was don't I have a place in London? I said, `Yes, for 25 years, but we haven't been able to use it as much as we want because we didn't like to separate from the kids. So with five kids over the past 35 years, I've lived my life scheduled around the school year. The last kid is in the house, she graduates in five months and I'm going to get to London as soon as I can and finally make use of the place.'
"That turned into: `I'm moving to get away from (President) Bush,'" Hoffman said.
He added: "That's silly. You can't go anywhere in the world to get away from Bush."
All of London breaths sigh of relief.
"Is it safe?"
This just in... Hoffman to relocate to the Martian landscape to scape Bush.
So glad I saw a bootleg copy of the movie rather then paid for it.
Our loss is London's gain
Why can't they live up to their promises?
I heard he's moving to London to get away from Barbara Streisand...
Why relocate to Britain when he could relocate to a high tax socialist paradise like Sweden or France?
... with the possible exception of George Michael's rumpus room, of course. :)
It was bad enough when Madonna decided to relocate here. If the Tories promise to ban celebrity immigration, that could be a winning platform.

What about allowing the use of deadly force against home invaders, and pardons for anyone convicted of using "disproportionate force" against an intruder?
Yes, yes, very safe.
Arsewipe..
shoulda been at his brownstone (west 11th st)office the day his fellow traveler lefty comrades...the Weather Underground loonies blew themselves up 34 years ago in the townhouse next door.
then we coulda been spared this nonsense.
That's quite a compliment!
Let's put it this way - we just had a television programme in which people could vote for someone they wanted as a candidate for MP. The winner was a gentleman who called for a total stop on immigration, the castration of paedophiles, and indeed, the ability to use any amount of force in home defence.

bump!
I didn't realise that 'reality MP TV" programme was over.
Sorry I missed it.
You know what? I can see the day when they actually do away with the ballot, and you text in your franchise! ;-)
The people have spoken...
Hoffman should get down on his knees and thank God there's nowhere in the world he can escape GW. (Actually, he's wrong.) Why not relocate to that workers' paradise of Cuba?
