(Jersey City-WABC, January 17, 2005) A massive turnout is expected this morning at the funerals of a Jersey City family. The family was found bound, gagged and slashed to death on Friday.
The police are talking about robbery and religious hatred as motives. But ABC News has learned the FBI sees a possible link to a terror trial now underway in New York.
The bodies of Hossam Armanious and his wife and two young daughters will leave from Journal Square for the church at around 10:00 this morning. The coffins will arrive at the church just around 10:30 for the funeral service.
Thousands are expected to attend. And many of those are very fearful because there are no arrests in this case.
There are still several theories on the table as to why all this happened. There is doubt and uncertainty in this close-knit community.
ABC News has learned that the slain family's cousin has been a translator working for the prosecution in the trial of Lynne Stewart. She is the radical lawyer accused of smuggling messages from imprisoned Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, to terrorist cell members and associates.

To me, the hate crime theory seems more plausible. If they were trying to get at the translator (which seems ridiculous to begin with), then they would not kill the cousins.
Boy, I hope my family doesn't get murdered over the activities of my cousins, especially since I don't even know where they live or what they do.
Telletubbies killed them, not followers of "Islam the religion of peace TM"
As an ex-spook friend of mine says, if you have to wonder if it's a coincedence, it probably isn't.
You're from the South - you don't know where your wife is or what she does?
Though you'd should see this. LOLJ
The cops are onto something here. BTW, what's your real name and address? Some people might want to talk to you about why you jumped into this particular thread so quickly with a transparant attempt to discredit the police investigative theory.
If you call the local FBI office, they'll have an investigator in charge all evening, so if you have some information to impart to them, you might give them a call.
I didn't marry my cousin, doofus. I married my sister.
Here's another story....
Hahahaha...quick comeback! Touché
Why the cousins, though? Why not someone closer? Perhaps because there was no one closer, but it seems unlikely.
First, murder is itself a ridiculous act, so what seems ridiculous to you is irrelevant.
Second, to assume that the purpose was to get to the interpreter is a leap on your part. The father of this family was open and up front about his heritage and views and had drawn the ire of the jihadis. If they were related to someone the jihadis might already be watching it only makes more likely that they could be found by the bad guys.
You're making a causality connection that may obscure a more relevant relationship.
Good one!! (I think you won!)
For certain: WE, won't be informed of the true story. It will be a Cover-up. Not, to protect the perp, but to keep us from "feeling animosity" toward the butchering muslims.....
Bad news bubba ...... I've been telling people we're related!!!
The reason wasn't to stop their testimony, but rather to intimidate the other witnesses.
Intimdating a translator seems to me to be a marvelous ploy on the part of the terrorists.
And, if they kill a loudmouthed Copt to boot, I'm sure that to them it's just gravey!
How similar is the names of the cousin? Could it be mistaken identity.....(Off with tinfoil)
CBS news of course has verified that even if this is not true the story's facts are believable. /sarcasm
This was a message from the terrorists to the ENTIRE Coptic Christian( and ALL Christians, for that matter)... They WILL KILL ANYBODY THEY FEEL LIKE KILLING!! ANYBODY!
