And this attitude, my friends, is why they will continue to lose. When you put the pursuit of power in front of the good of the nation, it shows. :)

Frist should have gone with the nuclear option. I hope it isn't too late to do so now.

The RATs will never work with us. The media will never love us. We have nothing to lose.

'they are determined to block Bush's major initiatives and thereby deny him the mandate he has claimed from his reelection victory last November.'

THAT will endear them to the Americans who voted for Bush...

what are they thinking? what version of the word 'rejected' don't they understand?

" Then, despite anger and bitterness over how the 2000 election ended, Democrats were tentative and initially open to Bush's calls for bipartisan cooperation."

Where was I? I missed this one.

Then, despite anger and bitterness over how the 2000 election ended, Democrats were tentative and initially open to Bush's calls for bipartisan cooperation.

This is unsupported speculation. I saw no evidence of this, in fact I saw just the opposite.

This says that "unlike in 2000, when they wanted to heed the call for bipartisanship"---what a joke!!!

The still don't get it, do they?

Okay, great, spend the next year obstructing every positive thing that Bush requests and see how the elections look in 2006. After that it won't matter if you dems obstruct or not, because the GOP will have such a bit majority, you dems won't have a chance to bog him down.

I wonder if Karl Rove has secretly hired someone to give the dems this advice?

As Rush said, we are witnessing the complete meltdown of the Democrat Party. They are nothing more than insane rabid dogs now. All we need to do is herd them into the pens for humane disposal.

I sense that these people no longer want what little "wiggle room" was left when jockeying for a position. It's like throwing down the gauntlet, so to say. At what point do we say
"You asked for it, You got it"?

Evidently last month's big Democratic plea, "Why can't we all just get along together in the middle?," didn't last very long. The new term hasn't begun yet.

Their purpose is strictly POWER AND CONTROL. They are worthless, other than to themselves. The Repubs continue to give them a free pass with no attacks and no visble hard-core attacks in the conservative media...the libs will live as long as conservatives continue to wimp-out on them.

The headline is not exactly a light bulb moment.

But the unity of purpose also underscores a hardening of attitudes among Democrats -- from elected officials and strategists to grass-roots activists and party constituencies -- that Bush's domestic agenda presents opportunities to divide the GOP, break apart Bush's winning coalition and recapture some of the voters who supported Bush last fall.

Aside from immigration, there is nothing on his domestic schedule the majority who voted for him are opposed to in principle. S.S. reform, tax reform, tort reform, constitutional judges, etc... all are widely accepted. And, Democrats have no credibility on immigration anymore than the Reps do.

Among GOP elected officials, there may be a divide. People that do not want to buck the status quo and those that live off pork themselves may not be in agreement but the base is. I assume Bush understands this, which is why he's planning to take these reforms to the people much in the way he did his tax cuts. He's going to get the American people to pressure these House and Congress. I still remember the shock and fury when he urged people on the trail to contact their representatives about tax cuts. LOL

Frankly, the Dems are insane. I cannot predict what insanity will drive people to do. If they are still capable of rational thought, they'll bluster in the media but jump on these reforms if the legislation is good and looks to pass. They'll want credit, even if they opposed all along the way. In the same manner they wish to claim welfare reform. "Red" state Dems will have their futures to worry about, and may jump ship.

Clearly the Boxer Rebellion indicates they are still dedicated to kissing up to the Moore base, but they remain self serving politicians so we'll see if their actions mirror their bluster of words in the end.

Bush and the Republicans would do best to simply ignore the minority party like parents ignore a tired, cranky child. Maybe a little spanking now and then, and then put them to bed. Seeking "bipartisan cooperation" is a waste of time with those sick animals.

That's great! Another party wide temper tantrum. If they don't want to deal - nuclear option. It's constitutional, and it would benefit our nation for generations to come.

And of course, the press will say the gridlock is due to lack of "bipartisanship" on the part of the Republicans.

And we all know "bipartisanship" means both parties join together to screw the Republicans.
