Frontier settlement on the Moon might be a lot like frontier settlement in the American West in the 19th century if we work hard at it. I project that the Moon may be home to the same kinds of larger-than-life archetypes like those who sold colonization of the West to so many in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show and the Davy Crockett musical. Before we get to lunar cowboys, let’s look at lunar hotels.

Did the moon rock samples have any gold in them?

Seems to me it would be more like Alaska during the gold rush, except with bigger suits.

Most certainly, the men would much outnumber the women.
And what guy is gonna put in 80 hours a week without being able to, shall we say, have some relaxing time! What about moon mistresses?

Lunar assay shows that by weight 24% of the lunar regolith is Oxygen! at Apollo 11 landing sight the dust was analyzed and it contained the richest titanium ore ever found. Helium 3 is the fuel of the future form fusion reactors.

Well, mebbe, pardnuh. There is the one difference between the two of venture capital, aka a "grubstake." It's gonna cost more than two mules' worth of gear and a shiny Kansas City shovel to set up shop on the moon. Yuh cain't farm the place, so it'll be miners or them dang tourists, and the miners won't be one-man operations.

Well, there is one other way. Yuh gotta hornswoggle 'em into comin'. Tell 'em that moondust is a permanent cure for crow's-feet and male erectile dysfunction, jest like them ol' snake-oil peddlars. Git 'em up thar and sell 'em a trip back. The smart ones'll dig up enough dilithium crystals to set up shop in Frisco and the you'll bury the dumb ones. Win-win sityation if yuh ast me.

Dinkin never fails to miss the point. The problem with the Wild West was that Congress did nothing about its responsibilities until it was so late that everything they did pi$$ed off somebody or other.

Get Dinkin on board the Treaty withdrawal and private property rights train, then he might yet do something useful.
